You can't ?  His boss will have orchestrated that ... and probably a decent tactic.

One property developer slags off another property developer. What's new?

Popular and hugely successful local football manager slags off despised property developer, we all sit up and take notice.
Personally I wouldn't want to cheese Delancy off too much at the moment considering the fact that, as part owners of the company that owns Roots Hall, all they have to do to cause an extremely difficult financial situation is to ask for a court order for the sale of the ground on the issue of non payment of rent.

is it worth a banner for the South Upper for Sundays game. Maybe "Delancey, we want our Club back" or something a catchy as the cameras are there? Maybe Dave can let whoever is commenting know what it actually means?

They cant do that as it is protected by covenant.

I haven't seen the covenant, but I would imagine that the covenant deals with use of the land, rather than the ownership of the land.

If anyone (terryinthewest?) has a copy of the covenant, I should be grateful if they could PM me.

For those of us who have been sitting at the back laughing with our mates and not concentrating on the lesson (so to speak) can someone please concisely summarise how we got to the current state of affairs re the ownership of SUFC and what the relevant parties intentions are as regards the future of the club?

It does. But there would be no value in someone buying that land unless they had an interest in the club - as they couldn't do anything with it.

Ron has been trying the negotiating stance for many months now and probably feels it's time for a change of tactics. After all it did seem to be going nowhere fast.

I remember once before when we were doing really well under JObson/Webb, and all the demonstrations started concerning Webby going, well what an awful affect that had to our team on the pitch, I would play the waiting game here, and see how ron is going first before all hands to the pump

True but the problem with this club is they tell us nothing!

Is this really a good time to be discussing things like banners in the South Upper and protests against Delancey? The side are on a club-record equalling run of wins and we are a massive 9pts inside the play-offs at this stage of the campaign, there may well come a time when the fans need to do something in support of Uncle Ron for the good of the club but this is not it - we need to be getting behind the team to help ensure this run of form continues and we can continue to push for the top 6 this season.

Exactly.

Whenever this club is on the verge of something great there always seems to be something that comes along to p%&s on our chips.

Let's not start something that will cause a lot of off-pitch turmoil.

Good point, but we shouldn't let Delancey get away with holding us / Martin to ransome safe in the knowledge that, whilst our good fortunes continue, they will not be held to task.

There are other means by which we can get our feelings across other than at Roots Hall, as have been pointed out in above posts.

I think fbm's point was that the club owes large amounts of money to Delancey and that if Delancey decided to call in this debt, it would cause huge problems for the club.

The fact that there is a covenant restricting the use of Roots Hall is going to be of little comfort if there isn't a football club to benefit from it.

So because were winning games we bury our heads in the sand? If that was the case then Tilly wouldnt be on the front the echo, what sort of response was he looking for.

I think now is a perfect time, im not saying invade the pitch or start a chant of Delancey are a bunch of c%&ts. More along the lines of the cameras picking up on the banner and word will get back to Wagman and his gimps that things are afoot.

and now i feel my thread was unduly deleted when these remain matt the shrimp. or are they part of your clique?
