According to one source, David Mooney is 6 ft 2 ins in height:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Mooney

I agree, Rootshallbloke, Mooney does not look that height in the photo, but, as we all know, photos can be deceiving.

You may well be right. Wordsworth is 6ft 1in according to his stats and the two look roughly the same size standing next to each other so obviously the picture is deceiving. I shall sleep better tonight knowing that!!

I don't rate average players never have done :omg:

Even by your standards this post is staggering.

By definition, average players are......um........hang on.......oh yeah........ average.

Therefore, it would be fair to assume that any rating they receive will be no more than...... no, no, please no help i want to do this by myself......yeah, yeah got it average.

I conclude that Professor Stuart's specialist subject is 'Stating the bleeding obvious'.:dim::dim::dim::dim:

Size isn't everything, as any woman can confirm.

What's that darling? Oh, wait a minute......... apparently it is.

I've seen him score a few headers, and as long as he bangs in a few with his feet I'll be happy:smile:

Actually, he's not bad at attacking crosses because he times his arrival into the box pretty well (/is never in there already because he's too slow). But don't expect him to win a thing in the air in general play.

I appreciate your comments on Mooney .......... but I think it might be time to breathe out and just let it go Jonny.

Sometimes a change of team is all that is needed for a player to come to life ........ goodness knows we have had enough strikers that couldn't score go on and then suddenly become a revelation elsewhere.

We shall see how he goes this season - Southend United do not have a range of attacking options at the moment (but there is still a long time to go before the season starts) so Mooney's chances of getting a good run in the team are in his favour and he arrives just as training begins so he can get to know his team-mates and vice versa.

What could possibly go wrong ..................

Heh. He'll probably score a fair few. Whether that outweighs how little he brings to the side in general play is mostly up to the opinion of the individual fan. My last words on him unless you sign another ex-O to play alongside him.

Still, as you're short on options, I hear an experienced Championship striker has just been allowed to pursue other opportunities by his recently-relegated League Two side :whistling:

Not a good player.trust me you lot will be moaning by October about how bad he is

Sooooo, there was a prediction. October is here. How are we all feeling about my favourite Irish ballerina-cum-striker?

My initial assessment...:

He has two decent feet, can finish when his confidence is up and is decent at slide-rule passes and other 'neat' aspects of play, but he is a luxury player who requires a specific kind of strike partner and a side that isn't struggling around him. And preferably a blind linesman.

Funny you turn up after your first win in yonks. His done pretty well for us now PB has got him out of his lazy Orient ways. Still needs to improve his finishing though.
