I don't believe it was. I don't like to criticise players but, from what I've heard, it's his attitude to training that has been a problem. Can’t get a game for Tamworth. A really huge miss by the scouting department. That said, was laughable when some were criticising Maher for not starting him - blokes clearly just not up to it

I still think this comes down to his age and lack of experience playing higher up. I was always sceptical of a 27 year old that was still playing at the level he was playing at. You feel that they are set in their ways, as they've been doing it for so long. Room for improvement is hard as everything is already embedded in their mindset and routine. The players they are playing against are semi-pro and are prone to leave spaces in the second half, as they are tired. Players simply don't get that time and space the higher up you go.I don’t believe it’s an attitude problem as in a trouble maker or doesn’t work hard per se.
I used the example with Bim. He knew what he needed to work on, and asked senior pros and the management team to do extra. Bonne in particular gave him loads of additional time.
Danny didn’t do that. Whether he couldn’t be bothered, wasn’t aware of what was needed, or whatever his reason, I don’t know.
Bim is a perfect example to all young players, whether you are in the game or wanting to get into it. Danny wasn’t, but in his defence, not many are (in the game in general, not at Southend).
Pretty conclusive as a dud signing. He was a gamble and it hasn't come off. No amount of training is gonna make up the level he needed to improve to be up to the standard we need.I don't believe it was. as said before, mr bonne has other attributes that adds to the team and squad... he seems a real 'cheerleader' and celebrates as hard when others score, not just himself..Another tick in the box for Macauley Bonne. I know he started slow but I really think since Christmas he’s been one of our best players, and his attitude has been exemplary. 4 goals in his last 10 too.
I really think with a full pre-season he could be a real asset next season and I hope they decide to keep him around.
This has nothing to do Danny Waldron so apologies for going off topic. Though I will say, if it’s a choice between Bonne and taking a risk on a signing from the league below, I’d much rather go with what we know.
I don't think we will want him joining the Blue Belles.as said before, mr bonne has other attributes that adds to the team and squad... he seems a real 'cheerleader' and celebrates as hard when others score, not just himself..
Harder, I'd say. Did no one else spot him crack open that big bottle of Bollinger in the centre circle after his last-minute goal against Wealdstone?Mr. Bonne celebrates as hard when others score, not just himself..
he'd shake his pom poms with much gusto and vigour, I'm sureI don't think we will want him joining the Blue Belles.
Absolutely agree. Will be a pivotal player if retained next season.Another tick in the box for Macauley Bonne. I know he started slow but I really think since Christmas he’s been one of our best players, and his attitude has been exemplary. 4 goals in his last 10 too.
