Post-Match Thread and Ratings Dagenham & Redbridge 0-2 Southend United

Good result, and a better performance. It was encouraging that Maher changed his formation no doubt due to fan pressure, but a little disappointing that he reverted back to type in the last 30 mins. Some people will tell me that’s game management - I just think it’s dull having watched it for 3 years. If we had carried on going at Dagenham, I think there were more goals in that game for us.

We’ve shown we can beat poorer teams in this league like Dagenham, Ebbsfleet, Braintree which we should be able to given our squad. The test is going to come against the better teams - if we’re progressing, we need to start beating the better sides too. I don’t mean the Barnets of this world - I mean the mid table sides that dream of the play offs like us. I think we have the players to do that - time will tell if we’re capable.

Listening to this some of yous honestly should be ashamed how you abused and piled on a decent man. It shouldnt take an away goal at Dag to get the fans on-side
This 100%.
Some of the so called 'fans' on here are not supporters. We do not always agree or like a players performance on the day, but booing your own players is not supportive! Those people should not attend.

Quite agree. The trouble is these so-called supporters don't see it that way, they think that it is their right to boo a player whenever they feel like it, and they will never change sadly. I remember Gary Moore getting verbally abused by a supporter during a game.

When I watched football as a kid, it was a big thing if the team got booed off - would happen only after a long run of poor results. These days it’s instant - go in at half time a goal down and some bloke in the stand will be exercising his ‘right’ to boo.

It’s hilarious how many people are coming on here saying things like ‘I saw from the start what a player Bonne is’ and ‘people shouldn’t have doubted him’ (in so many words).
😂

I’m really pleased for him and I hope he starts banging them in but come on…..
Tbf there was a divide and, whilst I wouldn’t expect you to waste any time doing it, a look back over some people’s posts (mine included) would show a not insignificant number of people who have been much more positive about him throughout.

Good result yesterday, didn't watch as not been able to sort a work around, any help appreciated on that.
Bonne scoring was great for him and us, when a player doesn't do what he's supposed to do, its going to cause grieve, as many wondered why he was given more chances than others. It was a long time to wait, but glad it's finally arrived, along with the change of formation.
Hopefully, as we have said many times, this is the start of a run.
Onwards and upwards UTB

Thank **** for that. Change in formation transformed how we played positively. Well done Kev. Please learn from this and last week and save playing 5 natural defenders in a team for when we play Man City away in a few years 😉

One of the most enjoyable games this season. We looked threatening going forward particularly in the first half. Dagenham struggled to cope with our 3 forwards.

For those who went - did Ben Goodliffe go into the centre of the back three, or on the left to directly replace Ralph?

Got a feeling that his introduction and Ralph moving to LWB will see the starting 11 have a front three more than a front two. NR moving there will mean the midfield will be narrower and both wingbacks can/will invert into the centre so stop us being overrun and the width can still be utilised via the wide forwards.

Well, that’s my theory!!!

Dont talk to me like that. All im saying is abusing a player short of confidence will be a vicus cycle and make it worse. Not like he wasn't working hard

Why not? It’s okay for you to tell people that they should be ashamed of themselves but you don’t like it when you’re told to get off your high horse?

Sounds like double standards to me.

Of course he was short of confidence, I agree. But I never verbally abused him and I didn’t hear anyone else do so either.
They are paid pretty well for doing a dream job and it’s part and parcel of the game that you’re going to get judged on performance, no?
