Post-Match Thread and Ratings Dagenham & Redbridge 0-2 Southend United

Listening to this some of yous honestly should be ashamed how you abused and piled on a decent man. It shouldnt take an away goal at Dag to get the fans on-side
Not only those that have criticised Bonne but also Kevin. Every player seems to say the same thing. They are enjoying their time at Southend and it makes them a better player. Of course not always in a game of football do you get the result you deserve but I believe we are still in the fight for the play offs. Have some faith our players have always been together over past couple of years.Maybe some days a man does not feel 100% and cannot give as much as he wants but it is not a lack of trying or heart. Having said all that I am as happy as everyone to see us attack an opposition and see where it takes us. Onwards and upwards

Get off your high horse mate. People are allowed to be critical of player’s & management.
As long as it doesn’t get personal, I don’t think it’s wrong.

Always someone waiting in the wings to play the martyr.

Bonne's performance and his goal (s) if you include the dubious offside, has put all the doubts to bed. I saw from the start that he is a very good player, who was a way off match fitness when he arrived, and was low in confidence. He has gradually built the fitness levels, so he is now in good shape, and he was just missing the goal. That was not happening with a pedestrian, slow and negative set up, but a change of pace and support from the 2 other forwards and the midfield clearly suits his style. I said from the start he is quality.
Now I hope people are seeing what I see!

Overall, wasn't there, but atmosphere sounded good, and we were able to put last week's nightmare into history where it belongs! Good to see GSM back on the scoresheet, sounds like Harness redeemed himself, and we played well in every position. The downside is Collin, that clash looked nasty, lets hope its an impact injury rarher than something that will keep him out for a while.

Well done boys! I am.looking forward to Tuesday night now!

Fortune favours the brave. It certainly worked for us yesterday with 3 up top. All 3 were involved to create that first goal. Bonnie celebrated in front of where I was sitting. His reaction of pure relief was worth the trip alone.

Yes we get the usual oppo were shocking type stuff after every win. I don't agree, we worked really hard in that first 45 and totally deserved to go in 1-0 up.

Bonne was obvious MOM. For a while it seemed the linos flag was going tp be another seriously poor game changing decision would go against us. The cruelty being its was against Bonne..... And then the T-shirt moment arrived......I was there, 44th minute Dagenham. It wasn't just Macauley that needed that goal, all of us did. Lets hope it a season changer.

Kicking towards our own fans gave us the advantage. Bonne was with his wage without the goal. Then cleared two off the line second half and cleverly won the free kick for the GSM goal. Quality delivery from Ollie for that one.

Tuesday under lights and the same staring 11 please Kev. Make sure your there.

I thought we made Daggers look poor and Bonne was brilliant, not only because of his long awaited first goal which he seemed just a bit pleased about 😄 but also because of his defending from set pieces where we have been sadly lacking in recent matches.

I left the ground scratching my head as to how we were so abysmal last week and so dominant this week? My only complaint was why take Kendall off when he was clearly our most creative player but otherwise an excellent 3 points that were thoroughly deserved.

Let's just hope we don't go back to our backwards sideways style Tuesday night 🤞

Badly worded! I meant he looked good when he came on but I’d need to see him for a whole match really as he was only on what, 15 mins.. He seemed to organise people well. He might be just what we’ve been missing. Hope so!

He won a couple of important headers as well.

Plus a shout for our sub keeper. Didn't have the best of starts v Barnet but those two saves at the end made him very happy. Looks like Colin might be out for a while and obviously a good keeper is essential at all levels.

Bonne was everywhere, even prevented a goal at one point by heading it away. Great performance.

Much improved performance, however we are still guilty of not creation enough and scoring when on top in games.

Although the game was over by then, about 10 mins left we broke 3 on 3, passed the ball wide and then 15 seconds later we were giving a throw away on our half way line. Symptomatic of our issues all season, so it’s going to take more than one game to change things up for the better.

Let’s hope we are hitting form at the right time, as although both defeats have been bad, we have only lost 2 out of 11 to the top 2 teams in the division.

One for the tacticians.

Did we go 4-3-3 because the daggers set up allowed us to?

How do Fylde set up and will it allow us to keep this formation?

Or did Kev do it because he wanted to, regardless of their set up?

Think we need to worry about Fylde, Sittingbourne and Maidenhead first.

That was a brilliant listen. Sounds like a really good lad and for all the noise that was made about a potential attitude problem, he doesn’t come across that way in the slightest. Seems really motivated to kick on and I think we’ll see a completely different player now.

Interestingly, he pretty much said himself that he’s always scored in patches, so it sounds like he’s a player who will hit the net regularly when he’s confident and feeling good. Fingers crossed this could be the start for him. If we can look after him and get him firing regularly again, he could be an absolute asset to this club for many years to come. We know he’s got it in his locker.
