The fact that we struggle to sell our allocation at Crewe is due to the economic climate.
Many (probably most) people simply cannot afford to pay out to travel up to Cheshire with the associated costs, pay matchday prices at Roots Hall on Weds (again the associated costs) and budget for the day of their lives (fingers crossed) at Wembley..all in 15 days.
No coincidence that for the first time in memory, England cannot sell even close to the allocation for Euro 2012.
Football is such an accurate barometer of the economy. Pre-crash? 60,000 England to Germany in 2006 but would be half that this year.
Is totally unfair to criticise numbers, times are extremely difficult for many and football is a luxury.
Hopefully, our lads will put a huge smile on the faces of those fantastic fans up at Crewe as well as the fantastic fans watching wherever they can!!!
C'MON YOU SHRIMPERS!!
