Crap atmosphere...

yes i said to the mate i went with from Northampton, Crewe away was the only colder I felt. Seem to remember Brett scored a late winner that day!

That was officially the coldest I have ever been at a game

And also the first time I have been into a pub after the game and ordered a cup of tea from the bar!!

Not many though. And they are not saying they are better fans than others. Your post was pathetic if you ask me, and I can only assume you were fishing for the kind of response you got from others (including me).

Anyway, im not into having slagging matches over a forum.
I prefer to sort things out face to face, so im going to call it a day on this one!

Up the blues.

Nice Bloke....Think everyone is entitled to an opinion...Any real need to have such a pop....I have seen posts calling this SOTW all sorts leave it out !!!

Regardless of the singing, think of the boost the players would have got coming out onto the pitch to see 2200 odd fans, on an open terrace in the freezing cold. That is getting behind then team that psycological boost which could well have paid dividends if the first half chances had gone in (and on any other day probably would) personally I reckon seeing over 2000 fans packed into the away end does more for getting behind the team than hearing chants (which in the main are the same as any teams with just one word, the teams name,, changed)
Anyway I am off to top myself now, I mean, over 650 home games, season ticket for over 10 , but i only do about 5 away games a year so, fairweather supporters who needs them.........

High horse.

West Ham have there bubbles, liverpool have walk on, millwall have nobody likes us, pompey have there chimes etc etc. These are all songs that both regular and occasional singers/chanters sing together and whatever you think of the teams, It creates a fantastic atmosphere. Irrespective of the weather on saturday and we all know it was bloody cold, we dont, unfortunately, have our own song. 'stand up' and 'blue army' aint the sort of song/chant that most blokes over 20 are gonna feel compelled to sing/chant/stand along to every five minutes. 'we love you southend' is, i guess the closest we have to a song that we all get involved with sometimes but it's a bit wooly really. So there we have it, we need a song that will appeal to all fans and be identified with our team. It wont be easy to find the magic tune but until we do, dont expect too much to change.

What about the song 'The Boys in Blue' by Cannon & Ball, from the film 'The Boys in Blue' starring Cannon & Ball. Catchy tune, change a few lyrics, easy to sing...

One of the reasons Efe Sodje wanted to sign for us was because of the excellent atmosphere generated by our fans at Roots Hall.

The atmosphere last season with 11,700 in the ground was excellent and even on a Yeovil message board one fan stated that "the noise of the fans from all four sides of the ground created an electric atmosphere". And of course the comeback against Yeovil this season created a great second half atmosphere.

I wonder what Sodje makes of the Roots Hall atmosphere now?

Come on people, creating a noise can help the team on the pitch (as per Goaters comments after the Col Utd home game). I understand that some people do not want to sing/chant but give it a go and see if we can awaken the myth that is the 'Roots Hall Roar'.
