Keep up the good work Tinks! I walked past the Highlands Surgery vaccination site yesterday and there was a good mix of ages in the queue. I did consider tagging on and taking my chances but I didn’t ;)
Haha - you would be surprised of how many people have showed up in the hope of getting a spare vaccine and if we have them we offer them providing we have gone through our reserve list first and that they can come back later
But, the criteria for eligibility is reducing so may be worth checking

Would be wonderful if schools took the opportunity to teach children about the great achievements of our past. How we have had to lead the way as a nation in times of world crisis. The success of the vaccine roll out should be used to inspire all young people growing up in the 21st century Britain to take the brilliant opportunities that will now be presented to them. From football to the olympics, we do it better than the rest, if everyone is on board.
Isolationist and jingoistic nonsense. Seems like political posts are acceptable on here if they go in a certain direction.

So majority of serious cases and deaths at the beginning of this “wave” were caught in hospital. Good job we’re testing millions of asymptomatic school children eh.

Doesnt surprise me from what I've heard from a source at Southend Hospital.

Your the expert.... So why have we been far more successful than the rest of Europe rolling out the vaccine?

Infection and hospitals have always been a HUGE problem, AND it is basic stuff that I'll people are much more susceptible to infections. Not breaking news really.
I believe hospitals are cleaner now than pre covid, lack of visitors helps that.
I also believe more needs to be done, the minimum wage for cleaners is an indictment of how lowly they are thought of in the scheme of infection control.
How does the saying go "pay peanuts..."

Not breaking news no. But if that’s the main issue of transmission of why are we testing millions of healthy children who quite clearly aren’t ill.

Our cleaner at work gets paid more than I do on an hourly rate. Ok we're not a healthcare setting, but we have members of the public, tradesmen and the like in and out of the office.

News from a care home in Exmouth of 9 residents dead and a couple in hospital. Obviously the vaccine hasn't worked for them and will it lead to care homes being close to families again.

I am not sure I understand your point @OldBlueLady .
Back to hospital stuff.
I have heard, direct, from office, admin and other personnel at SUH of disgruntlement when cleaners got both a rise from minimum wage increase and then cost of living annual increase that the pay scales were negatively eroded, which I found bizarre as, from my perspective, the cleaning of ****e and body fluids, toilets and such is a much harder, less attractive work place than home or office working on a PC.
And like your office a hospital has any number of visitors, be it professions on a "round", tradespeople, out patients, maintenance or just meal delivery; innumerable risks of contamination.

Actually any one of the EU 27 was free to go it alone and do what the UK did.The reason they didn't was because they assumed (wrongly as it turned out) that the EU's greater bargaining power to ensure supplies at a cheaper price would work in their favour.QED.

Surely the point is to make sure that school children aren't spreading the virus? (I believe the transmission rate in schools is 0.40 %)..

With the bill for testing and tracking now at £37b. If owned the company and controlled politicians i would want plenty more testing. £1500 for every family in Britain so far, thats almost enough for everyones nan to have her own ventilator......Nice work if you can get it.
