More enjoyable than when we lose !
Yes undoubtedly, but not one I've had to experience yet live, all draws or wins at Layer Road or Weston Homes.

there are 3 reasons for this. firstly is that boxing day games always attract a bigger crowd at colchester regardless of opposition. 2nd is that with advance ticket prices being so reasonable and most people going to the game knowing they will be off well in advance that they might as well take advantage of the prices. 3rd and probably the biggest factor is that the 2 clubs havent played each other for 5 years or so.
I agree with your last point about the fact that we both havent (sadly) met in years being a major factor for a boost in ticket sales for this fixture.
However, alot of fans both SUFC & CUFC are away to visit families far and wide during the Christmas break, added to that "festive" public transportation issues or other commitments etc, so that would take a small cut in ticket sales.
Furthermore, If all the Colchester home tickets went on sale as stated at the begining of the season, given the amount of time in advance to buy tickets... why was the ground attendances at Colchester's stadium (including away fans)... as follows:
2,706 V Reading (ex premiership)
2,785 V Port vale (your 2nd last home game?)
2,917 V Oldham
With the above in mind, and without sounding like im repeating myself (or others for that fact).. That surely, you must see that we find it difficult to believe that 5,000 home end tickets have been sold already, especially so long before the game.
All being said, the larger the crowd, will make for a better atmosphere on the day.

6,000 for Charlton & 5,000 for Stevenage.

Ahhh there's a big club coming this year though.
But most if not all Football League clubs show an increase in crowds over the Christmas break. We have always had higher than average crowds over Christmas and I expect Colchester do as well.
I wonder how many we have sold so far? There will be a mad rush for general sale if tehre are limited tickets left. I will be one of them making a mad dash for them next thursday!
Just a quick question, do the rumoured 5,000 fans that attend for them go down as Col U or Ipswich fans?
