Breaking News Callum Powell joins - now official

The team is really shaping up nicely! Key positions being covered and the age range of the squad is sssooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better.

Welcome Callum, here's to a long and successful Shrimpers career that takes you into the EFL.

Personally I think the club should pay more attention to how this is going to affect Shrimperzone. Clearly they don't care enough about us. Recently we've had Chris Powell come back as manager and now we've signed Callum Powell. What with the ever present Chris Philips, how on earth are we going to know which CP we're talking about?

Shambles.
Chris Philips insists that when we're talking about CP we mean him!

Lots of striker options.. who’s gonna miss out?
We need them what with Murphy out for a few weeks and potentially Dennis too. Our bench on Tuesday showed just how short of options we are coming from the bench. The good news is, with a fully fit squad we could have a very good starting 11 and a very competitive bench as well!

Honestly, can't believe it has happened again.

First we had Stanley Collymore, Simon Cox and Sol Campbell, now we have to deal with this!

Thing that really stands out is just how all these signings see us a big club and a real chance to improve there careers and be a part of something.

Compared to last pay day big time charlies who see us as a little swansong.

Did anyone do any scouting before? Or did PB just pop onto wikipedia to see who had won stuff in the past..
There was quite a bit of criticism of such an approach in the past . Some noteworthy s on here thought it was a waste of space strategy and that hardly any talent existed beneath us and we couldnt attract them and if we found some it would never work out and be too costly ! I believe we were also advised that Ron himself didnt like the idea

All credit to him and the great Team alongside Stan and Co for changing direction so seismically and quickly

Have to say Im loving every minute after pushing for just such an approach for many year's and being told to F,,, off

Chris Powell is SCP, surely.

I've realised that we're finally building a squad that has the types of players I always hated seeing us play against, but at the same time wished that we had in our squad. Well, one by one, we're now acquiring those types of players, and I'm very excited about the future of this club for the first time in bloody years.
Just shows how far behind everyone else we fell in our approach to both player and backroom recruitment. While our competitors were doing what we're finally doing, we were kidding ourselves the way forward was big names on their way down. Stan said the way we're now doing things can't fail if its allowed to flourish, and it is early days, but it already looks so much more positive from every angle.

How many is that now? I felt we were only going to be able to sign players if others leave, and the only one I could imagine leaving was Atkinson just because of timing, Sayers had gone as well.

This is all Stan. We've paid a fee for the last three of them and this is Stan in Ron's ear saying 'Hey, remember the club paid £100k for me? How did that turn out?' Some players will roam around always being free agents and we've played that market for a long time, others can increase in value. Hopefully that's becoming part of our ethos.

Looks like we have a new range of SUFC casual jackets for Callum to model at the photoshoot.

Really happy with this signing and the direction the club are going. Looking forward to a strong end to this season and a push for promotion next year.
