Scorers,

Corr 3...2 pens
Worrall 3

Over 12 hours of football with just 4 goals from open play which is an average of a goal from open play every 3 hours !

Although that is 6 in 8 games , it was 6 in 6 until you stopped going , so see Mrs B you are a positive influence on Phils attacking football !
Please tell me you're coming tomorrow ?

Kinda beat me to it JM, was about to post the same.

Clearly you JM and others see the game differently to me and others.

We do not play any genuine 442,
Corr and Payne are miles apart hence why Jack never gets onto Corr's flicks,
The midfield are shackled hence why they rarely score,

That is the way I see it anyway.

I agree, obviously will give the lad a chance but we have our own youngsters here who can't get a sniff so why are we helping someone else?

We don't have time for these players to mature, we need someone at least semi proven.

Agreed,

Phil bigged Williams up recently ordered his return then gave him a few minutes then signs another forward, one big mess Imo.

Good luck to the new guy though and I hope he bags plenty whilst here.

Signs a forward (what everyone has been begging for) and it is a "big mess" .... logical!

You just said to Drobbo youngsters simply don't get a chance and we sign another youngster who has 3 league goals to his name.

Not knocking Piggot but once again we have young players at this club who continue to be overlooked.

expect a 0-0 tomorrow. We have the worst scoring record at home of the top 16, they have the worst away scoring record of the top 14. dont expect goals!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which is precisely why there will probably be a fair few!!! When was the last time this team did what you expected them to?

You mean Jason Williams, the guy who has been getting minutes off the bench? Hardly being overlooked. That is also ignoring Jack Payne and Daniel Bentley, who have become regular starters this season. By the end of the season, these "overlooked" youngsters will be getting eased in.

I also said to Drobbo that managers think short-term because they are judged on their performances in the short-term, how can a manager look to the future when some are calling for him to leave with the team in the play-off places? If we don't get promoted this season and it is because Brown played these youngsters instead of "proven players", you would be the first to request him to be sacked.

Edit: I still would prefer Williams to be playing (off the bench to start with), but I still wouldn't call this "a mess".

This is what infuriates me the most. When a team comes to "park the bus" , they may leave 1 up front with another just behind, the rest lie deep. When this happens we still leave 4 at the back and probably 2 or 3 of our midfielders still sit back. Of course we should be wary of a counter attack but we do have the quality to break teams down we just need to press much higher up the pitch, hassle their defence, and get more bodies sprinting into the box causing chaos.
We need to show our intent by coming out full pelt at the whistle + go all out to score early. this negates the oppositions often used tactic of time wasting + frustrating us on our hallowed turf.

Those last 8 games stats at Roots Hall sum it up perfectly. We are clearly far too over cautious at home + if we dont sort it PDQ we dont deserve to go up. again .

against Daggers we flew out the blocks, that became long ball when we didn't score early and every time we attacked for the rest of the first half we always found a defender. i can see why players became more cautious when the quality ball isn't there and they just have to turn around and sprint back to defend their own goal against a counter attack

I think it's vital to have more competition upfront, so don't feel to bad about our youngsters. I hope it spurs them on. Still think we need at least one more, and think CSBrown might be holding out for Elliot Lee to be fit. However it would be tough on Jason if he is suddenly demoted from the bench for any length of time, that would be an error.
Also now we have nearly all our young guns back, are they getting any football at all? What's happened to their development games/ opportunities?

Lee played 45 minutes for West Ham development squad yesterday, so we may see something happen on this one soon now if it's going to.
