Weren't we here with Neil Harris?

Definitely a gamble with a lot of upside but with no emergency loans any more we need to have a 'Plan B' in the squad for any injuries Kightly might pick up,

Well I have heard some of his new stuff and it is great but whether he can transfer any of his undoubted musical ability to the football pitch is an open question. Look how Doncaster Rovers came unstuck with Louis Tomlinson. Big risk in my opinion.

If he and Turner signs, we will have ex premier league players in MAF, Cox, Ferdinand, Turner and Kightly... Have we ever had that amount of Prem talent in our side ever?

(Didn't include Hendrie because he never actually played for WHU)
Yes the team from 68 that played in the old 1st Division , Lawrie Leslie , Tony Bentley , Sammy McMillam , Mike Beesley , Eddie Clayton , Billy Best , Gary Moore , Phil Chisnall , John Kurila , Frank Haydock , Andy Smillie and Chico Hamilton

McGlashan would be Plan B wouldn't he? Or even Robinson.

Well Brown is flying back from Spain early so I imagine we'll see Kights signed up by close of play tomorrow.

Would prefer it if Kightly was flying to Spain, but that still sounds positive.

Those five players have an average age of 32. We might just have the oldest team in League 1.

Brazil won the World Cup with an average age of 30.5
another reason why hopefully next season we will be singing " it's just like watching BRasil"

National teams have no real concern over future squad planning, nor do they have to worry about the kind of concerns associated with signing older players of a certain pedigree.

We saw last season the kind of run of form that can occur when your first XI are absent. So far this summer we've signed six kids on cheap deals. That should tell you all you need to know about Brown's transfer strategy.

It's irrelevant to talk about age unless it's affecting the player.

If you were to talk about a 35 year old MAF then you would suggest he is past it. He looks in better shape than some 20 somethings.

Ferdinand is well aware of his body and managed to jockey along nicely last year. Admittedly he missed games but played well.

I'm sure turner and kightly will be in
the same mould.

Players these days last longer due to more tailored routines of fitness.

If PB says they are fit enough then let's see how it goes.

I always thought it was a big mistake letting Kightly go-reminder,we preferred to keep James Lawson!-
and I think he would be a good signing-but PLEASE don't keep labelling him MK-those two letters have execrable connotations.

Wasnt Lawson about 5 years later ?

EDIT: Lawson 2004-2007 and Kightly 2003-2005

Scary to think Lawson is now 30!

I love the fact that people actually think that Kightly might come here. Don't get me wrong, he'd be a great signing for us, but there are Championship clubs after him, he's not coming here.

Well Brown has flown back early for something...

Yeah, Brown coming home a day early leads me to believe something is imminent considering we are due to come back tomorrow anyway. Doesn't have to be Kightly of course!

Oi, Ron/Phil, If this deal is meant to be imminent, can it hurry up and be tomorrow please, the waiting is getting really hard work.

The Kightly deal is most defo still on , if what we have offered him is true then i can see him taking this , he will be top earner by a considerable distance

He rejected our initial offer and was going to sign abroad , we came back in with an improved offer and he has cancelled the talks with the foreign team, on that basis i reckon its a goer
