Think Kightly is on board, spoke to a guy on holiday out here who works for Southend, and he wants to play in this area, money is secondry, but wants a long contract

Well at least it sounds a real discussion/negotiation rather than pie in the sky. Normally I would baulk at a 3 year contract given he is 31 but tbh if it makes the deal doable, and given the guys quality, it's probably only injury or a promotion or two that would mean he was a paid passenger- and the latter would mean it didn't matter.

Getting Kightly and keeping Leonard, with the positive noises coming out about Turner, then I would be more positive about the coming season than for a long time.. We will see but as I've already said at least we have some ambition.

The final thing that would top that off is if we could get Kiernan in.

He seems o be after a three year contract, PB is for it, but RM has his doubts, only what im being told.

Doubt that's right considering we gave the **** Ranger a 3 1/2 deal. MK would come with no baggage and by all accounts is the model professional. If the club are arguing over a two or three year deal they are mad

Also a history of long term injuries and playing in a position where pace is important. I can see both sides of that.

would be a massive signing to be honest.Come home Michael, play out your career in front of your hometown fans, you would be appreciated by them. Also you have a chance of some silverware and hopefully another Wembley appearance.

So Fossets is dead, and a move to Basildon is back on. RIP Vic Jobson. :nope:

Back page of the Echo says that we are in advanced talks and look set to sign him...

please get the one over the line chaps!

Ticket prices are going shoot up if we get this one signed.

Personally I don't care spending an extra couple of squid when the club are obviously showing ambition i.e. Anton, Cox, Hendrie and maybe Turner and Kightly

So when does the Lenny deal go through then?

I am now pretty sure it won't unless Sheffield U at least double their offer (maybe more). In Ron's ideal plan we get promoted this year and with in the plan the stadium to follow.. PB has made absolutely clear how important Lenny is and not replaceable on the cheap- clearly far from Knightly being a replacement it would make Lenny wanting to stay even more likely and the need for what he brings defensively even greater. The Sheffield boat has sailed whether they realise it or not. If I was Lenny I would be thinking if they think Championship players are not worth more than £300k then there is a fair chance they will be fighting relegation rather than promotion. Worse he will get splinters in his bum watching a side put together on the cheap fighting relegation only to hear about his old club on the way home and their magnificent free scoring promotion bid..

i will leave it to you to share the bad news..
