Brown considers Smith call up

Once again Brown makes himself sound a total ****, unless he's injured Smith not even on the bench

We spoke to Ted before the game, he had his hand and wrist strapped and bandaged. Injured it yesterday. So, don't think it's Brown sounding like a total ****.

Depends if you're in the camp that's always looking to condemn Brown at every opportunity even before facts come out... or not.

I'm not usually disappointed with your posts, SBH, but this is an exception. I really hate the constant attempts on here to pack everyone into being either entirely for, or entirely against, Phil Brown when the reality is that there are relatively few people at those extremes, and most people have a more nuanced position on his management. By using the term "Camp" to clump people into a group, you excuse yourself and others from having to think about their points of view and doubts, and we end up with pointless name calling rather than reasoned debate.

I have my own reservations about PB, mainly to do with his man-management and his choice of formations, but that doesn't mean I am looking to see only the bad and not to give credit for the good. In this case, he has form for making statements to the media which he hasn't followed up on, and while OAA was unwise in his intemperate outburst it's not entirely a case of looking to jump on him without any reason.

I'm disappointed too Tom, on a number of fronts, but firstly the idea that I'm even close to commenting on 'everyone'. If you think there's not a very real 'camp' on here looking to condemn the manager at every opportunity even before the facts come out then, sadly, you're mistaken. It's not a majority but that camp exists, the poster exemplified it, and I fully stand by my post.

I'm disappointed that you think calling someone out on calling the manager a tool for not picking an injured player is 'excusing myself from having to think about their point of view'. I'd prefer ALL posters to actually think about their point of view before posting it.

I'm disappointed that you've not spotted we share exactly the same frustration on this point.

No need to apologise SBH you called it exactly right. If Ted Smith was not on the bench then there must be a good reason.

That's the trouble with using some logic, its the last thing the mob with lanterns and pitchforks want to hear.

I appreciate the sentiment Rigsby but, just for the record, I was NOT apologising.

And this is exactly the problem with using terms like Camp to describe all the people who have reservations about PB. There is no camp. There is no mob. There are a few, and it is a few, extremists who want the manager sacked immediately and come out with ridiculous statements. The vast majority of those who are lukewarm about PB have no time for that sort of idiocy. So why are we lumped together with them as if we are all ****wits with no brains? Frankly I'm sick of it, I'm sick of idiotic comments like the one above, I'm sick of genuine questions about team relations, player selection and tactics being ignored in favour of personal insults, and then idiotic statements like the one above about mobs and pitchforks being spouted.

Clearly, there is no chance of a reasonable debate, even Yorkshire Blue is being ridiculed and he can't be accused of being thick or having an agenda. So until there looks to be a chance for a civilised exchange of views, I shall find better things to do with my time.

Depends if you can be bothered to check my posting history before posting yourself...... also did you conveniently ignore this part of the original post ? "unless he's injured Smith not even on the bench"

Brown has form for spouting bollocks about team selection then doing the opposite, fact, he has also made some serious errors of judgement throughout the season and when people point those out and express an opinion it does not mean they are anti-Brown.

Your second paragraph is spot on and like every manager, even the best, he's made plenty of mistakes.

As for the original comment, you asserted that Brown had once again "made himself sound like a total ****". If you were happy to accept the possibility that Smith could be injured, in what way exactly had Brown made himself sound like a total ****?

Phil has often stated "there will be changes" and did nothing,or "in training so and so is pulling up trees" and doesn't select that player, even this week he strongly hinted Bentley and Payne may be dropped(that's the way I read it)yet both played.

Maybe Phil should engage brain before commenting?

Yes, agreed. Now then...

In what way did leaving an injured Smith out of the matchday squad make him sound like a ****?
