Yorkshire Blue you have to realise in some peoples eyes goalkeepers are only recognised for their mistakes, saves are what they are expected to do....give the guy a break!!!

The following are all comments that I just found on the internet are all about Paul Smith when he played for Southampton against Spurs in March 2005. They suggest that he has the ability that we're all hoping he has - I hope that any current issues are is all about confidence and that the confidence soon starts flooding back.

England striker Jermain Defoe was enduring a similar afternoon for the
visitors, although his inability to score owed much to some outstanding saves
from goalkeeper Paul Smith - especially in the second half.

"Defoe fired a hat-trick as Saints were crushed 5-1 at White Hart Lane inDecember - Redknapp's second game in charge - and he would have added three more
to his tally against the south coast club but for Smith."

"Spurs striker Jermain Defoe also failed to find the net despite having a hatful of opportunites. But he drew a blank mainly because of the brilliance of Smith in the Southampton goal.
The Saints boss also praised Smith.
Redknapp said: “Paul gave a terrific performance and he’s been marvellous for us.
“We lost Antti Niemi who is as good as anything in the Premiership, so it makes you fear the worst when you pick a boy who has never been in the first team.“But Paul has been absolutely fantastic. He’s played so well that he’s given me a dilemma for when Niemi returns. At least I know I don’t have to rush Niemi back now.”"

Spurs head coach Martin Jol:
"We had four one-on-ones with the keeper and we should have got at least a draw.

Their keeper was an amazing shot stopper but we should have put at least one into the net."

Two people on here are incredibly naive, stupid or just sad wind up merchants

There are plenty that arent happy with smith but only two that are prepared to say what they think and not scared to take the red because we think differently and have the balls to say so.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, supposed to be a match thread and two people have made it about them as per usual.
