Speaking as one of those socialist people, I was right with you until you got personal. No need for it, really. You even say "the worse off will suffer", which beggars the question - why did they vote for it in the first place. That I expect will be the great unanswered question. But I digress.

We desperately need the best deal we can possibly, because the reality is that not having a deal is going to be dreadful for the vast majority of people.

As I've said earlier, regardless of whether you were "in" or "out", those arguments are done. We need to get on with this, we need to give business the clearest steer possible as to how it will work and we need make sure we have contingencies in place in case we don't get what we want / need.

We should be hoping that negotiations don't fail.......

Btw,as a committed European I'm a great admirer of Europe's small nation states,which is precisely why I visited the 3 Baltic Republics on holiday last year.Never been to Slovenia but it's certainly on my bucket list.The reason I called it "little" was precisely because it is,with a population of just over 2 milion people, I believe.

It would help if you actually did give an opinion rather than hide behind a link, with a look at me I read the Guardian..... So I must be right, attitude.

When was the last time you ever posted a Guardian link and said this is just a non story designed to ruffle a few left wing liberals and confirm their preconceived ideas about life.

What about the article by Afua Hirsch. She wants to pull down Nelson's Column.

Needless to say she has a complete lack of knowledge about the British navy. She makes some wild assumptions about black sailors. When in fact in a time of slavery all around the world, they were treated very well over 200 years ago, they could be promoted as high as any white common man in the navy. She even claims Nelson set up home in Wimbledon after he defeated the French Navy. I think most of us know what happened to Nelson at Trafalgar.

My opinion: I agree :omg:

I see Labour's position on Brexit as temporary. Large sections of the Labour Party would be in favour of second referendum but saw the LibDems jump too soon on that and not make any electoral breakthrough. For the time being the position has to be that Labour respect the referendum result but would have a different focus to that of the Tories. The Tories will make a hash of negotiations and leaving the EU won't happen. A lot of people are trigger happy on Labour calling for a second referendum, I think they need to be patient, the negotiations will not derail for some time so we need to hold back until they do. IMO Brexit won't happen and it will be David Davis who will make that so.

Today is the 2nd year anniversary of the news breaking of Cameron verses the pig apparently. The Shrimperzone thread on that seems to have disappeared - I remember being online at the time and assumed it was just a wind up, then gradually real news agencies started reporting it. I bet he would accept that was his legacy more than Brexit.

I dare say John Harris will have changed his mind on many things since last year. Which of us haven't. However, my link, and the one you quote in your post, was to a Steve Richards article of 21 August 2017. I do have some sympathy for you on this. There are just so many Guardian links all over this thread that none of us can really be sure which one we have just looked at.
