Post-Match Thread and Ratings Brentwood Town 3-5 Southend United F.A Trophy Rnd 3

I've seen 17 games without a goal
Congratulations for never missing a game.

I was interested in RobB11’s view as he made the comment amount him being a donkey after today’s game.

I’ve not seen all 17 just all the home games but none of them lead me to describe him as a donkey so wonder what he had seen.

It's true and i am sure he is trying his best, but i do wonder if it will ever happen for him with us.
Don’t care if he doesn’t score all season if he leads the line and Bim scores 3 each week. Of course he should score more and Paul Clarke was right that he does great work creating things but has to try and then continue into positions to get on the end of stuff. Reckon he will be big player as we push into the second half of the season.

I don't always agree with Paul Clarke , in fact today i thought at times he described Brentwood as a team we should worry about rather than a team we should be easily beating. As for Bonne, for me he is not what we need up front as our number 9.

Surprised to see Wind getting plaudits. I thought he struggled. Their first came from his foul. He lost the ball a fair bit as well. I thought he was the weak link first half.

Pepple man of the match. At 1-0 down we weren’t concerned because he looked good for at least one in his hour. It turns out he was good for a hattrick. He looked a man against boys.

KAF also looked lively. He might have scored first half but dinked wide. He put Wind into good positions on a number of occasions.

Miley was muted although scored a rare goal.

Nice to see Walker score in a brief cameo from the bench. He did that at Wealdstone as well. At the very least we have a weapon from the bench with him. That’s more than we can say about Bonne. He had a first half effort blocked but otherwise didn’t look remotely like troubling their defence. His approach play is good but offers no goal threat.

Ralph had yet another good game. Golding came on and played LCB but looks very right footed. He is big though.

How many games from Wembley are we now?

According to BBC 1300 plus in attendance.
Brentwood ground holds 2500 , did they miss out on a big pay-day ?
Spoke to Keith (SUFC police) said the capacity is 2000 these days but they only wanted 1500 as felt 2000 would be too hard to cater for. As it was we had three portaloos and one food van and that was it. Could fit way more in our area. Also ticketing was odd as when you entered they just asked whether we were home or away fans and directed us accordingly so some SUFC fans that bought from Brentwood still came in the away end

That surprised me aswell, they let us in separate turnstiles but could then wander willy nilly, but saying that was nice not being squashed in, weather was more bearable than I thought, not a bad afternoon all round really

Didn’t start well. Conceded a sloppy goal. Eventually got hold of the game and got the equaliser. Could and should have had more. Header from Wind hit the crossbar and looked like it bounced over the line. KAF got cleaned out by the keeper and could have had penalty, sane player clean through chose not to shoot when he had the chance. Otherwise a few shots over and wide. We had the wind in our favour first half so you could argue 1-1 at Ht wasn’t great.

TBF second half we played much better and kept the ball on the deck which made playing so much easier. A couple of the goals came from decent passing and movement. Two nailed on pens given. We assumed Bim would talk it and complete his hat trick but Bridge took it and hit it over which really completed another disappointing showing by him. Bim took the second penalty and completed his hat trick. BTFC scored a couple of decent goals which we would say were disappointing from our perspective.

Collin~ 6.5 no chance with the goals otherwise ok
Wind- 8 excellent again and close to MOM, unlucky not to score but got an assist
Bridge ~ 6 just not the same JB, lacking confidence and the penalty miss doesn’t help
Crowther- 6.5 difficult for the CB but stuck to his role well
Taylor~ 6.5 ditto Crowther
Ralph~ 7 did well at LWB after JB went off and got an assist I think for Walker. Wonder if he will move there now with the new lad coming in at CB
Miley~ 7 did ok and got a goal albeit deflected
Husin~ 6.5 got in good positions but just doesn’t shoot. The one time he did the keeper made a good save
KAF~ 8 all over the pitch and so energetic. Should have shot when clean through and should have won a penalty. Otherwise the pick of the middle 3
Bonne~6 a game for him to shine but yet again it just didn’t happen. Can’t fault his work rate and effort but looks lost in front of goal
BIM~ 10 MOM, can’t fault the lad apart from one miss in the first half. But the pick of the players on the pitch today

Coker and Morton- 7 love these two. As soon as they came on you can see why they have started so many games. Linked up well together
Waldron~ 6.5 worked hard but like Bonne needs a goal to get moving
Walker~ 7 got the tap in that both Bonne and Waldron would love to have had
Golding~ 7 looks a unit and slotted in well when he came on. Looked comfortable when he came on

Officials were poor~ certain Winds header crossed the line, KAF should have won a penalty but not given, their second goal looked offside, Ralph somehow got booked for a foul on him not the other way round

So 5~3, could have 6 or 7 but a potential cup exit averted. Into the draw for the next round which is all you can ask for

A striker that can’t score in 15 games, yep donkey.
I wasn’t at the game and assumed you were from the comment and that you might have said he missed loads of passes or mi**** loads of shots but it’s now clear you just mean because he hasn’t scored yet.

My case that he isn’t a donkey is based on the intelligent football I’ve seen him play, the fact that at least two visiting managers have called him out for special praise after games and he has played at a higher level.

Your logic would make players like Ian Rush, Torres, Suarez, Rooney, Shearer all donkeys as I think you’ll find they went double digit games without scoring.

I predict that Bim will score more goals when Bonne is on the pitch that when not.

Was very disappointed with what BTFC offered us.
Uncovered end is fine, but not allowing us in to any of the undercover drinking establishments and segregating us in with 3 portaloos and a tiny food kiosk was a **** take.
