Post-Match Thread and Ratings Braintree Town 0-1 Southend United

Huge gulf in goal difference between 7th place and us.
Also played 1 more game.
We need to win a few by 3 up.
Or win a lot more than those above us.
A tight and interesting new year.
.

Poor game but will take a win on a **** pitch.. Hook your best players on 60 mins to ensure a sketchy finish, I'll honestly never understand it.

Winning 2 games we should win, and need to follow up by winning 2 more games we should win against Southport and Boston.

Barnet and Dagenham to provide a much sterner test, we won't get away with shutting shop on 60 against them.

That was an uncomfortable watch.
I think Golding a class act. Right now, his departure would be up there with Pepple's.
Better than me will explain what the subs brought?
I can see the reason to refresh, but though we have a full bench, it's not all that, is it?
Glad the opposition was Braintree.
And of course, the referee was poor; he's this level after all. And by poor, I mean for both sides.
Advantage? What's that all about?
I totally understand the taking off of Bim. He'd been booked. He was getting targeted by some Braintree players. The odd shirt pull and a few elbows going in on him. They could see he was getting wound up, and were trying to get a reaction out of him to get him sent off. As for Kendall, I thought he was lively, and should of stayed on longer.

No, I understand it too.
My concern is the bench. There's a gulf between it and first choices apart from Morton.

At 67 minutes when Kev took off Bim and Charlie I knew we wouldnt score and all the pressure would come our way, providing every opportunity for Braintree tpo score

As the DAZV commentator said Kevs early move changed the dynamic, and we stopped looking dangerous in the final third. The usual big mistake , psycholgically puts us on the defensive. We then alrgely sat back, far less energy and then that bad tackle on Walker makes it worse leaving one up front, if you could call Bonne that

Good battling effort and great 3 point6s in admitted tough conditions. Personally I thought Husin waas back to fairly sluggish mode, Bridge had a poor game. Taylor was phenomenal in defence along with Golding,

Couldnt give MOM to Miley from my perspective although he played ok. Cokers ag good young prospect and showed his usual ability to get in to good p[positions, but backs off the tackle a few times I noticed

Considering the awful pitch thought we were excellent in our defensive play. However when we took Bim and Charley off plus the awful challenge on Walker we lost our way in the offensive play.Thought we were going to concede fortunately Braintree lack any quality and we held on to pick up the points.

Trophy next to continue building

Good 3 points. Deserved it on the first half showing where it could have been 2 or 3. Second half was about not giving Braintree a sniff, which we didn’t.

The subs were a bit early for me too, but people had just been carded (unjustly) and made a foul to be a step closer to a red. Kendall had just looked a little sluggish and given the ball away in midfield so maybe it was the right time. Either way Walker wasn’t given an opportunity to prove kev right - where a better ref would have given a red when he was hacked. Bonne was his usual self.

When we signed Golding it was suggested by some on here that it could turn to a permanent - I hope that’s right. Exactly what we needed. If we can bring in aimilar quality keeper, left wingback, attacking CM and one more up top and I think we’d look altogether better.

1600 away fans my arse! Saying there were more home fans was a joke! Didn’t want to be outdone by us.

Poor game, looked decent in the first half but just didn’t come out swinging in the second. The ref was **** and the Lino closest to us hadn’t got a ****ing clue all game.

As others said, not sure why Kendall and Bim got hooked off and once again like Ebbsfleet it went flat after that.

That bellend who I understand is ex scum that took out Walker should’ve seen Red! ****ing awful tackle and I really hope it’s not a bad injury for him, the initial didn’t look good.

Another dreadful side we look destined to go down.

Still embarrassing going to these tinpot grounds, awful facilities, awful stands, zero atmosphere and just dog ****! Sooner we get out of this ****ing league the better.

3 points, a clean sheet and two wins on the bounce. I’ll take a scrappy display if it means 3 points.

just heading back now - poor game very scrappy but an away win 3 points and a clean sheet

Crowther and Waldron sitting near me not looking at all happy especially Waldron who spent most of the game on his phone head buried in his hood

MOTM for me probably Coker, maybe Gus for his energy levels
