Post-Match Thread and Ratings Braintree Town 0-1 Southend United

Can we also discuss Jack and his crossing ability?
Forwards thrive on service, which sadly he is not providing.
I hate to say it but Jack has been poor this season and most of all in the last few weeks. Walker on the left wing is a much more offensive option as he wants to beat a man instead of looking to go backwards 99% of the time.

I recall a lot of moaning too. Boring defensive football. We won again boo hoo.
Football is a results business but it's also an entertainment sport.

Arsenal won loads of games 1-0 under George Graham. Arsenal fans would still see wengers sides as winners and far more entertaining.

I have this discussion a lot with fellow fans. For me if Southend win that’s all I need. An entertaining game is a bonus. I’ll watch the premiershi** for entertainment. Ask Spurs’ fans and I think they would rather forget the entertainment and win some games.

I dont disagree. I was just recalling what it was like in browns days, and sturrocks too. People moaning about route one style, defensive boring grinding out of 1 -0's

Your talking about holy grail football for us tho. Only been a few short spells of it really in 40 years for me. (But they make all the dross worthwhile).

Genuine Q: if they're both working well together, why could you agree with subbing one and breaking that partnership but not both?
I remember one recent home game (Hartlepool?) when after substitutions, we had Bonne partnering Kendall and that looked quite promising, almost leading to a goal for Kendall. I accept that it was probably a good idea to take Bim off, as he was not playing with his usual smile as the second half wore on, following his booking, which looked harsh, but I would have liked to have seen Bonne come in to partner Charley.

Wasn't going to post after Ebbsfleet and Braintree games as they should have been a given with little to gauge from them. Ebbsfleet was, as expected, very poor. It's a pity we decided the game was done and dusted at 4-0 as a few extra goals could be crucial in the latter stages of the season. Braintree were a different proposition. Not a great side but I think they have enough in the locker to stay up this season. They tested us at the back but we held firm. A good workout. Obviously our game plan went out of the window with the injury to Walker and that was unfortunate.

I know Maher likes to change the front two and introduce fresh legs and ideally it's not a bad thing. Sadly it is clearly weakening us as the sub two are not as capable as our starters. Until we have better options I think Maher might want to revise his plans.

Six points and lets hope we can build on it. Need a bit more to take on the better teams, particularly in terms of plan A, plan B and general nous.

Don't know what the bloke is taking :Happy:possibly the same stuff that was around in the late 1960's.:Smile2::Smile::Hilarious:
In another interview he said they should have had a penalty. He said it was stonewall, as regarding our keeper, if you don't win the ball and there's a coming together, then by the laws of the game. it's a penalty.
He is either blind or blindly biased, as Collin did win the ball first, and then momentum made him go into their player.
No wonder I'd never heard of him before that game.

Given the standard of refereeing in the NL I’m amazed the forward didn’t get booked for a late “tackle”
