Actually was it Ryan Hall who had his sentenced reduced on appeal?

yes it was

In March 2011, Hall was sentenced to 20 weeks imprisonment after pleading guilty to affray, following an incident outside a Southend nightclub at the club's Christmas party in December 2010. The court heard that Hall retaliated to racist comments made to him, and that he suffered a broken jaw in the altercation.[73] Southend United insisted the player would not be sacked,[74] however Hall was granted bail pending an appeal against the severity of the sentence. Hall's sentence was commuted to 12 weeks, suspended for a year, with 150 hours of community service.

He can't change his past and the poor decisions he's made. Will always be there as a an example of how he should not live his life going forward. A constant reminder every day to distance himself from it in a positive way. If he takes his medicine for his past. He'll do well for us over the next few seasons. Really feel he needs us as much as we need him.

Not for me. It's not a first offence. Do we honestly believe that he only made one phone call and just happened to make the right call first time to defraud. He probably tried multiple times. We don't even know if he defrauded others.

It's a dirty crime and for me he should be binned. He has been given chance after chance by people. But this is just plain wrong.

I would be amazed if we ditch him. Sometimes players are forgiven many things if they help us be successful! I don't have to agree with the morality of that statement to accept that he will probably still be a Blues player after sentencing.

i think legally its a first offence and he has admitted to transferring the funds. nothing to do with making the call. There doesnot appear to be anything about making calls i the report. One of the other defendant had details of 500 bank accounts, NR just transferred money from one of them. There is no mention of whether details were purchased , obtained by hacking or scammed by phone and no details of who actually obtained the details. And as he has pleaded that wont come out in the corse of the case against him.

If think the court will offer him.....3 months in nick....or 50 hours non stop of Phil's teamtalks.

Wonder which one he will choose.

Good statement, that.

Maybe part of Nile's rehabilitation is to admit his guilt, today and put it behind him.

It's not something I condone, but he seems to be an accessory, at best and has learned from this.

His discipline at the club has been very good. No bookings on the field, either.

I think the club are right to support him, with a warning that anything that happens whilst he is here, would lead to the club having to reconsider it's position. Rightly so.

Nile knows he has been given a chance by us. I doubt he'd throw this one away.

Some very judgemental people, a vulnerable person can be an elderly person, a woman, a handicapped person...many different possibilities. Yes, it was very wrong, but as has been said many times - we knew he was a **** up, he knew he was a **** up and that's why this has been largely publicised as "last chance saloon" for him. He's got a manager that he has a good relationship with and a great bunch of lads around him, he has not got the influences that he had when things were bad.

He's one of those who've taken a long time to grow up, and I think he's realistic enough to know that there were going to be consequences. Hubby doesn't reckon it'll be custodial and he's normally pretty good at second guessing the courts.
