I have been out all day and got score updates via the net this afternoon and get home to read the pathetic posts from people who judged this guy from info sourced from the net saying he was a crap, short-assed dwarf and fearing for our future. If ever there a case for individuals to post retractions and apologies to the keeper it is now.

I just hope he never joins the Zone and reads the tripe posted about him.

They know who they are....................................

As I said earlier in the thread, I think most of it was a knee jerk reaction and in particular, in relation to Dan Bentley who, on Friday, had clearly expected to play. There are certain posters who undoubtedly went a bit over the top, but in all honesty, it was comments from his home club's supporters that helped to give a less than rosy appearance.

I'm ecstatic that Belford had what sounds like a very good debut for the Blues, let's hope he can continue that on Monday in a match that we all so badly want to win. I reckon that most of us who sounded pretty anti at the start of this thread will get behind him, he's certainly done as much as he could to get on the right side of the supporters.

More fool those for taking these comments at face value without having seen the guy play. It is not as if we get a wide range of views about our keepers on this site is it?

Bentley looked very nervous when he came on against Torquay and that was in a game we were comfortably winning. That is not to say his time may not come in the future but it was always a no brainer to get an experienced keeper in on loan.

Belfords stature and way about him reminded me of John Burridge and he was brilliant for us in during his short stay in the 1977/78 promotion season. A good competent debut. No qualms about him getting the nod over Bentley tomorrow night based on Saturdays performance.

Unfortunately Kay, most of this site these days seems to be a constant knee jerk reaction to whatever is going on at that particular time.

Opinions are opinions, naturally, but I wish people would actually wait to assimilate some knowledge first hand before forming one.

Never a truer word said. This is why I tend to avoid this site if we're in poor form coz the reactions are unbelievable. It is similar if we're on a winning run but positivity is never a bad thing.

Hi, as you can probably tell from my username, Bury fan here. Just had a flick through this thread to see if any Bury fans had given you an insight into why Belford has been sent on loan.

He did very well last yr in league two. Started the season in decent form in league one also. Then unfortunately had a spell where he kept making basic errors and costing us goals. Richie Barker signed Trevor Carson from Sunderland on a 3 month loan and Belford was dropped. When TC picked up a knock and went back to Sunderland CB came back into the side and did ok. After xmas his form has been on the decline again and barring a couple of good games (Charlton and Rochdale away) he has been responsible for alot of goals that we have conceeded.
We played MK Dons away a couple of weeks ago and he gave away a daft penalty just before ht then had an alleged altercation with the Bury fans and also an alleged bust up with the captain at ht. Barker then went out and signed Carson again for another month or so and Belford was pretty unhappy and apparently didn't want to sit on the bench.
He is a decent keeper but in all honesty I can't seen him playing for us again given that we have apparently agreed a deal with Carson for next season.
Oh, and he's about 5ft 9.

Thanks for the detailed insight arbury1 - I wasn't at Burton on Saturday, but by all accounts and from the commentary he had a good debut.

I suspect tonight against Crawley (live on Sky if you're interested in watching him) may be a tougher examination for him though

He was outstanding. Did everything right, saved a penalty, wasted time in a very clever way, got us a point tonight.

I'd love to sign him up permanently
