Southend United set to sign goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen who has just been released from Man City.

Well put Ricey; not every signing will work out and the reasons are numerous if it doesn't. What I want is a player who wants to be at The Hall & put in honest graft and as much craft as he can.
 
As I've said before ........... if we are still closing on the same goal-keeper then we must have been a long, long, long way distant ........... my guess (and it is only a guess) is that Smithy tried to stall Sturrock and Sturrock said "that's not the way to do it ...." (cue song .......) followed by the Bay City Rollers "Bye, bye, Smithy, Smithy bye-bye ........."

Oh how I miss the tartan scarves and tartan patches on jeans ..........:unsure:
 
Does anyone know anything about Brown? Is he tall short and can he command his area something which has been lacking of late?
 
I thought he played very well and made three excellant saves, covered his near post well and got down quickly to a couple of lower efforts. Came off his line well first half to block a one on one. I would have said he is 6 foot and came for crosses and corners without hesitation. What people have to realise is that we are a league two side and sometimes the quality of the players you sign reflect that especially on contract. This guy is experienced and has played a decent level in Scotland, so fits the bill well in my opinion.
