Thought the players that started the game looked full of running and looked rather fit already considering stortford have played a few games already and are not a bad side at all, shame about bridge picking up a injury before half time, looking at the game we look to be counting on kensdale and miley a lot as the look like the spine of the team, Powell up front seemed a little isolated up top on his own, so hopefully cardwell will be back soon, thought Ralph did ok and woods finishing was first class so I hope he can take this into the season.

How refreshing to see a football thread and some Southend goals 👍.. Wood can hopefully fulfil his potential this season. Really cool finishes there, loved the second one.

Good to get beck to action on the pitch. Nice set up at Bishop Stortford, Neck Oil beer in the bar and a tidy little ground.
To concede after a minute made me think we was going to get a thumping. Should not have worried we soon got into our stride and Collin had nothing to do thereafter. We passed it around nicely and were comfortable winners. Credit to the whole team for a professional performance in the circumstances and really played with heart for Kev & co.
Standouts - Kensdale for a Beckenbaur performance at centre back really comfortable bringing the ball out of defence. Taylor for a tigerish display slotting in seamlessly at right centre back. Fonguck for an enthusiastic and industrious game at left mid, always making himself available for a pass. Powell made intelligent runs up front and we did not suffer from having a small front line.
Star Man - Jack Wood, continually found space between the defenders and some clinical finishing for a deserved hat-trick.
Now were we that good or are Bishop Stortford a poor NLN side and going to struggle? Noticed Rob Howard playing for them at right side of defence, they were continually undone by our overloads down both flanks. Good to see no change from playing style of last season and good early crosses onto the feet of players running into the box. Also another run out for our rarely used pink kit of last season. UTB

Help me out here.
Is Jack Wood an out and out striker or a goal scoring midfielder (like Mooney was expected to be)? If the latter, Kev & Co may be more relaxed about Mooney leaving.
