oh yeah I forgot all the time he spent out injured eh:omg:

Still not quite sure what point you're trying to make.

2014/15 - 44 appearances out of a possible 52 (85%)
2013/14 - 52/54 (96%)
2012/13 - 42/59 (71%)

Just as a comparison:

Noel Hunt
2014/15 - 14/51 (27%)*
2013/14 - 20/50 (40%)
2012/13 - 30/44 (68%)

*based on Ipswich's season

mmmmmmmmmmm corr or hunt ? Let me think about this one eh, I no which one I'd rather have eh:smile:

I'm confused. You seem to be moving the goalposts. Pubey was answering the point above. That has nothing to do with the relative merits of Corr and Hunt, who is out injured at the moment in case you hadn't noticed.

We are in league one now and we now have mooney, hunt and the pig, all are better than corr and will prove this over the season, think corr knew himself and was probley honest with himself in the end by staying in league two where he is best suited, he would of struggled in league one with injuries also and the pace of the game, think he has added maybe 2-3 years on his career by staying in league two on a good wage also.

Indeed, criticising Corr for his injuries when he played 40 games a year at least and then then choosing Hunt who has played far less isnt a great argument.

Hunts a great player but if fitness is the measure Corr wins hands down.

How is the game in League Two easier than League One on a physical level? Surely if anything League One is less physical (although only marginally if anything).

Of course none of the three actually managed to score against Burton on Saturday, unlike BBBC who's scored against them last season (and the season before that).

Did Barry corr have a big spell on the sidelines with a injury ? Yes he did and nearly missed a whole season, just ask Ron Martin as he had to pay his wages while spending that amount of time on the sidelines, Martin was not happy at doing that and always thought corr owed the club something because of it, Ron Martin for you tho, players move on and so does everyone else.

Yes, Corr did have a big spell on the sidelines with an injury. He later repaid that loyalty by signing a 2 year deal on less money than he was being offered elsewhere. Oh and scoring loads of goals, firing us to Wembley and promotion and generally putting his body and long term health on the line for the club. Yet people still want to snipe at him. I can understand Barna doing so, after all BBBC made him look very foolish, but why your animosity towards a Southend legend? This is someone who scored as many goals as Brett Angell, more than Cadette, someone whose last act in a Southend shirt was setting up a last minute winner at Wembley.

Tough crowd.

I think you'll find the insurance firm paid his wages when he was off.

Corr was with us for a further 2 years after he missed that entire season and played a very high percentage of the games so he more than repaid us

Indeed. Even if you factor in that whole season he was out absent he still has an 'attendance rate' of over 60%.

He has been replaced by better quality strikers as we are in league one now, loads have moved on as corr is in the past and in league two, we look forward to better quality players coming in all the time, corr felt unwanted and god knows why, he didn't even like piggot because he was a threat and it's no secret they didn't get on, the pig is a good replacement for Barry and pig will only get better, I've wish corr the best and I'd like to see Cambridge come up, but will Barry want to come up to league one with them if they get there, not to sure, maybe Northampton next on his list of clubs:omg:

Is that the reason why the club were going to offer Barry a scouting job or something similar if he didn't make it back from a pretty severe injury which could have finished his playing days? The club did alright by Barry and in turn Barry did more than all right by us. You need to check your facts mate.

He didn't want to stay and Southend didn't need him when moving to league one, now if we stayed in league two things might have been different for both, who knows:thumbsup:

Well that's a bit more sensible and I don't necessary disagree with it. At the time he signed for Cambridge he probably did feel it was time to move on and the club may have felt the same. Slaps on the back all round but this is a bit different to what you have been suggesting in previous posts.

Im with Tottenham541 on this one & some other posters, I personally think that at his age, moving to Cambridge & continuing to play at division 2 level has furthered his career in terms of playing on a regular basis & scoring goals than if he stayed in league one and might have been a part time sub on our bench (or perhaps his contract re-newal wage demands were to much for the club, considering his injuries??... I guess we will never know for sure.

What I do know though, is that Division one football is played at a higher tempo than division two, with less tactical mistakes made, that is clear to see, as is the gap between division one football and the championship.

In summary, I think Corr served us well whilst wearing our shirt and I wish him all the best for the future and have no amonisity to Cambridge what so ever, but in my heart I dont personally think he would cut it as consistantly in league 1 as he did / does in league 2.... Well not to well, that he helps Cambridge to promotion and it ends up next season that he scores against us (unless it's an own goal of course!)

Also I would like to add that he gave me my last Christmas present of last year on a cold Boxing day with a goal in the 57th minute!!
