for those people that have come across Ron in the past or know him from his school days he had no interest in southend or football and despised the football playing commoners.......a property developer comes along and asset strips a club by buying the ground (I use the term buying lightly) and then low and behold rents it back to the same club. And guess what? the stadium just happens to be a short hop the town centre and has great transport links to london..... well I never.

If that does not point to one thing and one thing only then I'm not sure what bigger clue people are looking for....

It may not be so bad if there were a businessman at the helm who had an interest in football or the club....at least that would be tolerable compared to him

I have no doubt that was the case, however just because he had no interest doesnt mean he didnt fall in love with the club since.

As I always say in these discussions, if Ron Martin cared nothing about the club or the football he would have been far better off building a dull Col U type stadium. He would have made far more money by doing so....
