Atmosphere tonight

Sandbach Shrimper

Life President⭐
Bit disappointing. As usual just a handful of people getting songs going and there were some weird and sick chants, mainly coming from the same persons mouth by the sounds of it. Singing the tartan army song and an anti-Man United song about the Munich aircrash. Why?? It was better in the 2nd half. Just stick to the Southend songs everyone knows. Leeds weren't that loud either, though.

Always the same when part-timers pop along. Thought it was ok, we have been much better though in Block W. What is wrong with an SUFC take on the Tartan Army tune? It's good to try new chants and its quite a catchy and easy to learn tune, don't see your argument there.

And Trueblue wasn't capable of singing any songs this evening, so it weren't him.

Tilly called it "Another fantastic atmosphere" that's good enough for me.

I thought the atmosphere was good as always. I heard the anti man U chant, and was also perplexed, but it died out pretty quickly

Well I apologise for accusing True Blue just sounded like him. I think the Scots have copyrighted that song to be honest. It is a good chant though. And you're right, looked like there were a lot of kids in block w/x in their best clothes for Leeds.

What was up with TrueBlue ? Was he subject to a gagging order ?

Thought the atmosphere was good, that's when Roots Hall is at its best - night time game with a packed crowd.

It would help if other sections of the ground sang aswell. It was only bloc V and W singing last night. Get the other sections singing and the sound will travel around the ground

No longer having a season ticket this year, I am just picking tickets up in different parts of the ground.

Been in Block U of the West for the last two games and have to say both games provided decent atmospheres. Actually I thought last night was a good atmosphere, certainly the person I went with (who has only been to 3 games ever), commented on how loud it was.

Thing is, the accoustics are so bad, that when I've been in the Family Stand (for the last 2 years) and the East (v Millwall) you can't really pick it up, especially when teams bring large following and get the benefit of the North Stand accoustics.

The real tests are coming up, because we have a few sides who are unlikely to bring large numbers with them.

yeah about right. what happend to the blue voice? I thought their purpose was to help create a decent atmosphere, heard very little from their section.

And where were you sitting?

Obviously not Block V/W...

Can't help the **** acoustics fella and that aint a cop out.

TBV and their section did really well last night - trouble was there was so much noise from other parts of the ground they probably didn't sound as loud as normal. They certainly did what they were brought into being for.

Get them to turn out the bloody lights and it will be buzzing. Most older Brits are just too reserved to sing when they can be seen even though in their hearts they desparately want too. Either turn the lights off or give everyone a stiff drink as they come through the turnstiles to rid them of their inhibitions. After all you watch a film at the cinema with the lights off, so whats the differnce because its footy? We never used to have them on and as far as I know, noboby was killed or injured because of it, whats changed?

The club would probably shout "Elf and Safety" at anyone suggesting the lights be turned out. What has this country turned into ?

I agree. It annoys the hell out of me and everyone else. It definitely has a detrimental effect on the atmosphere. It encourages people to have a bloody chinwag instead of a sing-song if you ask me.

Health & Safety gone mad would be my guess. Pathetic.

Smiffy, you know i love you and the idea of TBV but last night it didn't work. There was no noise from the home end at all, i am talking about noise sustained for over 30 seconds.

I'm not having a dig mate just being honest. There were 5-6 chants about the home fans last night and the lack of noise, there was also one aimed at the drummer himself (its not you is it?)

I think sometimes when we visit there are more people interested in stareing at us then supporting their team. Last night there were groups of lads who spent the whole evening watching us, i felt like i was in big brother for abit

Although to be fair I didnt think the Leeds fans were as vocal as they have been in previous games.

Maybe so, first half we were louder. For most of the game there were people signing. I also said to my old man that its quite a sobering ground. Without being able to get another beer or go inside it sobers you up very quickly, that means you realise where you and are and it doesn't seem as much fun. Most notably when you have to wait in line to take a leak against a wall

Like i said i wasn't knocking smiffy or his efforts, i think he has one hell of a job on his hands

No, that's fair do's mate.

Going over old ground unfortunately. Whatever stand you are in at RH will sound loud to you, but to nobody else unfortunately, as the sound doesn't travel at all. We NEED the new ground and improved acoustics and an official TBV section to make a bigger impact. Big gates where the fair weather fans come out, 9 times out of 10 results in a worse atmosphere than if we had 7,000-8,000 "hardcore" in attendance. That's the problem with being a small club. The atmosphere will be better at the Oldham game weekend after next, always the way.

But, the management and players said it was "another good atmosphere" last night, so that's all that matters really. We are here to make an impact on them, so that's good to hear.

On a sidenote, I thought your chants on the way out were class. Singling out the stewards as lookalikes. Tony Yeboah, Becchio and Robinson, funny stuff!
