Andy Murray

I'm pretty sure the posts between my previous one and this one explain it quite nicely. Murray says he will support anyone playing England at football which could conceivably be because he doesn't like the team or it could be because he doesn't like England as a place. I don't really care which but all he has said was that he was going to support anyone playing England. What you appear to have done is to stereotype him based on other experiences with Scots. To use a different term, prejudice.

Also, as I'm sure TheFlyingScotsman would point out, it's not like Scots are warmly welcomed in England by everyone. I've seen Scots get loads of grief in England and it always seems to be a fairly brainless type that is involved which I think you could get anywhere.

I am quite curious as to why you both live in a coutnry where you feel so roundly hated though.

I don't think that is the point in this instance though. Murray is cheered to the rafters at Wimbledon and in Birmingham when playing Davis Cup by a mainly English audience. He was stupid enough to ram that support back down peoples' throats by making this comment.

To me, that just proved he is a silly little boy. Say what you like about Henman, but at least he never made stupid comments like that. He was intelligent enough to think before he speaks.

That said, Henman was also the one who got disquallified from Wimbledon for hitting a ball girl with a ball.

I see Tsonga is now in to the semis. Murray's defeat to him doesn't look quite so terrible now does it?

Tsonga is 2 sets to love up against Girly Nadal with a break in the third. Fair to say that Murray got a stinker of a first round draw.

Judging by the way Tsonga just ripped Nadal to shreds I think we can safely say that Murray getting knocked out in the first really wasn't that bad...

And the fact that Tsonga is playing Djokovic in the Final shows how far Murray has to go to ever get close to the top players in the world. They are as young as he is, and are performing at a higher level now than he is. There are plenty of other too.

Maybe. From what I saw of Tsonga's semi, he's definate Grand Slam Winner material. Looks like a giant brute, but he's actually quite a deft hand. When he wants to be.

Just won the first set in the final playing some wonderful stuff.

Where has he come from?

From my perspective, the first I saw of him was when he beat Hewitt at Queen's and he was almost unbreakable on serve there. He produced a similar performance at the 2007 US Open when he beat a spirited performance from Henman.

Just lost the 4th set tie break to hand the title to Djokovic but that's no disgrace at all. Djokovic has vastly more experience and has looked like a potential grand slam winner for a while.

The thing that impressed me about Tsonga was an Ivanisevic-like combination of a devastating serve and the occasional inspired moment. Did anyone watch the semi-finals? I'm really surprised that Tsonga beat Nadal - did he have an off day?
