Fairly minor tournaments though, not a grand-slam title.
Got to agree with AS, if he was the wonder-kid the tennis writers paint him out to be you would think he's better than Becker (who lets not forget won Wimbledon at 17!)
There's plenty of time. The Australian Open was Murray's 9th grand slam event. In terms of other top players currently out there, here's when they won their first grand slam:
Rafael Nadal - 6th
Marat Safin - 10th
Andy Roddick - 12th
Roger Federer - 17th
In terms of top players of the last couple of decades:
Boris Becker - 5th
John McEnroe - 7th
Pete Sampras - 8th
Stefan Edberg - 8th
Jim Courier - 10th
Pat Rafter - 20th
Goran Ivanisevic - 48th (!)
I'm yet to read a tennis writer who would put Murray on a level with Boom Boom Boris, indeed he's unlikely to reach the heights attained by most of the men in that second list.
But his career is going pretty well at the moment in spite of the setback in Melbourne. I'd have thought a Masters Series title and a grand slam semi should be in his sights this year.
he will always be a winging sick note wanabe
You forgot to add the words "sweaty" and "ar5ehole" to that statement! :p
Don't forget his pre World Cup "anyone but England" rants of 2 years ago on Soccer AM and in other media articles!
*** sits and waits for MtS to come along and tell me to get a grip, not bear grudges and give him some space as "what teenager in the public eye hasn't said something daft and been taken out of context?" *** :p
GET OVER IT, RICH!
:finger:
He's British, and it'll be a cold day in Hades before I celebrate a Frog beating a Brit at anything.
:guns:

You're right, you couldn't put it better.Couldn't have put it better myself YB.
Victoire c'est la moi! :p
You're right, you couldn't put it better.
(Try: La victoire est la mienne! or "Le gagnant, c'est moi!")
:finger:
Oh, and to rephrase the statement: it'll be a chilly day in the underworld before I celebrate the victory of a French sportsman over a British one...
Big shock in the men's tennis: Casey Dellacqua beat Amelie Mauresmo.
Is he French?Federer's been taken to 5 for the first time in ages - by the number 49 in the world.
Is he french?Roddick's gone though.
