Personally I'd rather wait for players like Cox than panic-sign rubbish. We'd all like some movement soon but let's see what the next week brings.

Only problem is that normally any free agents left at this time of the transfer window are those not wanted by others. Most teams know who they want and don't so we have to hope we can get some good players in on loan but I'm not confident. I think we need at least 4 players in. It is all well worth waiting for someone like Cox but you can't wait forever.

The players we sign have to be capable of challenging for the first team, "squad-fillers" could leave us in trouble this season. Hopefully we'll get good news in the coming days. Personally I'd be content with the strikers if Theo Robinson comes in but Brown needs to deliver at least one if not two centre-halves before the deadline. I'm confident we'll be OK.

I reckon 3 signings max before the window closes. Most realistically 2 signings.

What positions? is anyone's guess?.

i think we need at least 4 signings through the door at the very least. Brown mentioned somewhere that 14 have left and 7 have come in, so even if we go with smaller squad, numbers are needed.

for me it has to be:
a centre back
a centre mid
2 forwards (one of which can also play on the wing to cover there as well)

If we don't bring a quality centre back and another forward in before the deadline we are going to struggle. The squad isn't good enough at the moment.

I see Port Vale are going it large, given the new transfer rules, with their fifteenth signing since May ( Young Liverpool centre back, season loan ) They have taken on 4 from the Championship, 1 from Premier and 10 foreign players to currently sit in the play-offs, early days though, they could all squabble or forget who their new team mates are?

And we are struggling to bring anyone in!!!! Others teams are making signings!! Looks like PB is happy for August to be a write off and view the season as starting from Sept. Heaven help us if the players we are hoping to sign go elsewhere before the deadline......

I think lots of clubs will be relying far more on their younger players this season, this where a strong academy set up should pay off if the more experienced players suffer suspensions, injuries etc.

Not sure another Centre Mid is needed as both Wordsworth and Timlin will be back in a few weeks, but a Centre Back and Forward are 100% necessary to avoid a season of struggle.

Phil Brown is in talks with 6 players this week. Two Premier League centre backs, and a Championship defender. He's also made offers for three strikers, two of which are in the Premier League.
So he is trying. It seems that clubs, players and agents are leaving it late so as to get the best deal.

That depends upon Timlin and Wordsworth staying fit and I am not confident particularly with regard to the latter.

Only in last few seasons has he played less than 34 games in a season.

36 - 08/09
44 - 09/10
41 - 10/11
47 - 11/12
34 - 12/13
11 - 13/14
26 - 14/15
23 - 15/16

I can understand the current climate, however other clubs are signing players we are not at the moment. It's the same for every club and we are not unique.
We have still 5 days left until the end of the window so still plenty of time to sign players and until then we cannot make any judgement.

Whilst this may be true I also think we also have to take into account our previous issues of non payment of wages, this must hold some kind of weight especially with agents etc, whilst it may not be the defining factor it certainly cant help our chances especially if multiple clubs are after the same player
