Next three games are going to be tough. Bolton away, who strengthened heavily today. Scunthorpe away who ended last summer well and are playing well again this year. We've never won at Glanford either then the small matter of Milwall at home. Could well lose all three, I hope we don't of course but I can't see anything else right now.

Who knows, he backed him on Simon Cox and Anton Ferdinand so I wouldn't agree with that. I just think Brown has let open to much what he is doing and is expecting to do more than he has been able to. He has been poor this summer and it is going to affect us. I do wonder if Brian Horton was putting out calls and getting prices, wages etc or if he was just sitting in the Roslin collecting his wage. Would like to know what he actually does.

Me too. Would love to know his role. Seems to be just tying up money but must be a mate of PB. Haven't a clue what his input is.

I can't deny that the performances have been poor this season but that is what happens when you field a weaker team than when you were fielding in the league below. That is partly down to injuries to key players but largely down to the lack of necessary investment to be genuinely competitive at this level. You can't expect to replace the quality of Bentley, Payne, Corr and Worrall with Oxley, Bridge, Mooney and O'Neill (as we did on Saturday) and be anything other than weaker for it - especially against tougher opposition than the former faced in L2. PB knows that, we know that, the senior players know that.

As I said in my post earlier in the week sacking PB is not going to resolve that. He is probably getting the best out of the players available to him at the moment. The problem is that their best is nowhere near good enough to be challenging in L1 (or imo at the top of L2). If the injury list relents things will improve rapidly I'm sure - but only in so much that we can retain our current L1 status. Simpson, O'Shea and Grimmer would have made things interesting.

I think the opposite. They look demotivated and I don't think they want to play for him. Get another manager in and you will see a rejuvenated squad

I bet Phil will be busy tonight going through his book of poor excuses.

The Jay Simpson saga is the one that really does my head in. Giving fans hope of something happening, but in the end it was NEVER going to happen. Joke.

It's going to be a VERY long hard season ahead.

I wonder if Phil will say he can be blamed for this, like he seems to do in the media lately. Absolute joke we have only four strikers, with currently just three available.

#BrownOut

Well two really, Williams can not be considered seriously as a league 1 striker

The horrible fact of the matter is, the writing has been on the wall for a while. We tried to sign Glen Rea at the start of the summer and he chose League 2 Luton. Ever since then there have been several knock backs. Now people will say, 'well we signed 8 others'. But the facts are there, Brown stated himself that they had a list of 12 strikers and we was now at the bottom of that list. For whatever reason there has been a lot of rejection this summer. As I stated in my post above, money has been forwarded for players so there must be a reason why they haven't come. Even the most optimistic fan (I like to think I am one on the whole) will feel perplexed by the outcome of the summer.

We were at 4th base. We just needed to up our offer from sub £100k to £300k. Delusional

u make some good points, however, he is clearly not getting the best out of the players. The likes of Barrett, Thompson, Coker, Leonard, McLaughlin, Cox to name a few are good enough to compete in league one. But something happened after Christmas, team morale, performance levels etc dipped dramatically. Changing the manager may not work, but I'd prefer to give it a go than sit and watch the dross we've had to endure this year. Something is not right and it needs to be resolved. PB constantly blaming everyone other than himself and often so publically can not be a positive. It's time to go Brown

I see Port Vales signing list has risen to 17!! and those poor old league 2 clubs have snapped up 19 Premiership and Championship players

I'm surprised people are quite so critical of PB after this. Inniss seems a decent, albeit short term signing. Last Saturday must have been even worse than I imagined.

I think we are in a far better position than we were before Saturday as we've finally addressed - albeit only temporarily - the central defence. When/if Ferdinand, Inniss, Ranger and Cox are all fit we'll go on a half decent run. When they get injured - and they'll obviously get injured as none of them have a track record of playing regularly for a number of seasons - then the wheels will come off and we'll go into a Phil Brown patented tailspin.

Before that though I expect us to have a false (Martin) Dawn and going on a little unbeaten run, although I've thought since before the end of last season that Brown will lead us to a(nother) terrible spell culminating in him being given the chop around February/March time. The hope is that the new man will have time to stop the rot and keep us up.

So when does Robinson sign? Was clearly on standby in case we didn't get Simpson in (can't really blame Brown if Orient seriously wanted 300k for him, a bit annoyed he didn't have anyone else to go to when that clearly wasn't happening though), so he should be signing tomorrow right?

By the way, Blackpool are League Two.

Which means that it looks like Milwall and AFC Wimbledon didn't sign anyone.

13 clubs signed more players than us.
