2008 Eurovision Song Contest

It used to be ok, but last night it was a joke. Wogan was right, western Europe might as well stop entering. We were by no means the worst song last night!! Even the bloody Irish didnt give us 12 points!!

I think Greece were far better that Russia

Eurovision has been a complete joke for some years now and I really do think it's time we pulled out and left all the political shenanigans over the voting to those who still want to play. It hasn't been decided on merit for a long time. We were by no means worst last night, but we are - and have been for ages - one of the most unpopular countries when it comes to voting, despite the fact that half of Europe wants to come and live here.

Very good point, the whole political issues behind the voting has ruined the whole competition!

Thats the stance Austria took this year, I think we seriously need to review whether its worth bothering anymore. I see the news today that Terry Wogan is talking of quitting now because it's become too corrupt. We could send our most credible artist over there with a great song and we'd still come last.

I thought the UK song was quite good. Should have got more more than what they did.

Points that were a joke were Spain and Azerbaijan. Both god awful songs. All the old Soviet countries sucked up to Russia last night. Worried about their gas supplies were they?!

Did like France's one though. Bit different!

Yes, I totally agree it has ben like this ever since the baltics turned up. However last night seemed even worse than normal, everyone seemed to hate us even more than normal

It is starting to take the **** a bit. UK always get into the final no matter what, because the UK put so much money into it.

Maybe could start saying "vote properly, or you aint coming into the UK". Might change things a bit, eh?!

I never have and probably never will understand this garbage... Why invest so much time, effort and money into something which is incredibly corrupt and political?

Also, who thought that the Bosnia song sounded like a Snow Patrol song, and the Danish one sounded very familiar too?

TTK was saying Timbaland pressed some buttons on the Russia song, plus they had the world skating champion dancing on stage with them, its almost as if Roman has thrown his rubels at Eurovision as well!

Some of the songs/costumes etc may be cr*p but it is worth tuning into just to hear the sarcastic comments from Terry Wogan.

I agree I think we should pull out of this and question how much the BBC contribute from our fee paying licence towards this fast.

Watching the scoring last night you could almost predict who was giving who the highest marks

I heard Timbaland produced one of the entries this year and, considering he doesn't get out of bed for less than $250,000 these days, it must've meant some serious money was behind it.

Wonder how much he paid Daniel Bedingfield to sing the song too!

Anyone else notice Van Morrison singing the Croatia song?! :p

Estonia didn't make it to the final with their lyrical masterpiece about Lobsters, Frankfurters and Green beans.

Estonia: "Leto Svet"

I could swear the bloke in the yellow served me a kebab the other week

Time to pull out of this sh!te they call a competition. We never have to qualify as we put a load of money into it, and then when the day comes we get feck all points.
