2008 Eurovision Song Contest

Ha - no wonder you like it after the footage of the SZ BBQ.

I can imgaine you making a night of it and inviting round all your friends and family and having a "come dressed as a country" theme. With you jumping and dancing in front of the TV with your jelly arms while the Germans are belting out some cringeworthy non translation-able tune.

And today's new word is..........

Saturday at 8. Sadly. They should scrap this thing so that we can get through a season of Doctor Who without interruptions.

Political crap, yes. But if you can get lots of booze and mates in and make a party evening out of it, as well as see it as a bit of airy-fairy fun, then it's pretty entertaining.

I think I laughed continuously for about 3 months afte watching the Ukraine's entry last year. :D

I'll be tuning into BBC 1 on Saturday then. Thank you! :)

If you can't wait that long, there are actually TWO semi-finals this week before the big day! The first one is tomorrow night and the second on Thursday night, both on BBC Three at 8pm. They each have 19 countries competing for 10 places in the final, with five countries already through to Saturday's final (hosts Serbia and the "Big Four" who pay most of the running costs France, Spain, Germany and the UK).

We had our sweepstake at work today and I got Ukraine, one of the favourites!

Wow, it's going to be such an exciting week!!

;)

Just been watching the first semi final round my sisters, Ireland were eliminated so it's goodbye to Dustin the Turkey! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itf6rdlLSOU

Liked the look of the Polish and Norweigan entries (both of whom progressed)

FIX!!!

How on earth did Montenegro, Belgium and Holland not get through?!

Funny how only one Western country qualified, and with Azerbaijan getting through, i'm going to have to mute the song on Saturday night. I aint sitting through that again!

I think the whole competition is complete tosh and its all political. It should be scrapped with immediate notice.

Cheer up love, it's only a bit of fun. It's worth a watch for the Wogan magic.

Am I really wrong for quite fancying the Israeli transsexual who won it the other year?

Dana International?

He/She penned this years Israeli entry funnily enough.

It has to be said that last night's S-F efforts were appalling. Last years single S-F produced a host of good songs, including a Hungarian Blues effort, and MtS's superb performance which won the whole thing for Serbia.

The only half-way decent effort last night was Bosnia's, IMO.
