20:20 World Cup

Freddie gone. 127-6 17th over. I fear this isn't going to be enough.

shah now out as well. A below par score for us, but should still be adequate to get us through on NRR. Remember the Ozzies need to make sure they win, and whether a side comes first or second is immaterial to which group they go into, so would be extemely brazen of them to set about knocking us out before the win is secure.

OK, I wouldnt put it past the convicts to try..

I think they will definitely try and bully us out of the competition. So, if we do go out, it will be as a result of Australia not beating Zimbabwe. Thanks a lot!

no where near enough i reckon.... needed 160 minimum.

how many overs will the aussies need? i reckon 12

Anyone know why we batted first?

Its been a low scoring pitch, Zimbabwe beat Australia chasing and England are awful at setting totals. Had we batted second we'd have known not only how many we'd need to beat Australia, but also how many we'd need to qualify.

no idea really... i would have chased and left it completely in our hands

If they knock them off in 9.3 overs we are on the plane home. That's in excess of 14 an over - but if Hayden gets going early, I fear it's curtains. Brown-stained ones at that.

i reckon we are ok to be honest... 14p/over is some big hitting even by the aussies standards... i would fancy our chances of getting a few wickets which would hopefully drop the rate a little if they really go for it

Well according to someone who emailed Cricinfo, if we had bowled first, and the Ozzies racked up 220, we would need 124 minimum to stay in, wheras if we batted for a below par 130, the Ozzies would have to knock them off in 8 overs....which seems the tougher ask. Dunno how good this chaps maths is.

However, I agree with you, England have done a really good job of late chasing, but are terrible at setting a target, or defending it if they do set a big one. Playing earlier in the day takes out the batting under lights question as well so strange decision by the team.

Agreed if it was a night game you could understand but this early batting first seemed a strange choice.

Chasing 155 against SA, currently 31-3 with Pollock knocking KP over to run him out. Nice sportmanship there, *******s.

Not sure about the run out I think KP was a bit too casual. 73/3, with Flintoff still to come.

So was Pollock - they both realised a run out was a possibility at about the same time, but Pollock's running was right across KP - he was hardly going to collect the ball either as he tripped Pietersen up outside the crease.

Prior's out, thank God.

Absolutely abysmal from England. They bowled well enough to win the game, but dropped skied catch after skied catch to give South Africa the momentum. With Essex also getting relegated today its a crap day.

Three things cost us the game.

1) Collingwood getting in the way of Shah(or Shah not calling) to drop Morkel who then proceded to hit 3 sucessive sixes.

2) Putting Luke Wright in at #1 in such a big match.

3) Sending Jeremy Snape in ahead of Dimi Mascarenhas.

Apart fromt that not too bad, just i'd hate to be Englishman in S.A tonight after the thrashing we also took at egg chashing on Friday.

who saw the India vs Pakistan bowl out the other night... quality TV

That was good. I wouldn't mind though but Pakistan kept laughing even though they were missing the target. Fail to see the point of it though as the points don't get carried over.

On england they were shockingly bad and there is no way we are going to win this tournament.

i just loved the drama of it all... the funniest thing was the suitcase of bowl out balls!

Indeed, i dont know why they were lauging... at least we all know they cant bowl under pressure now though!
