Memory Lane Favourite Southend landmark - past or present.

Cool pic Al ... that'd be York Road coming towards us then .. i didn't spot any brasses in that shot though

well judging by the position of the main building York Road would be to the right of the building, Woodgrange Drive running behind the main building and Ambleside Drive somewhere along the bottom edge of the picture
 
And Planters coffee shop fresh roasted coffee beans, thats the reason I hate coffee never liked the smell of that place.

So many old shops that were by the Railway Bridge .Offords the Restaurant...Blackmans the furniture store...R A Jones the Jewellers...The Londoner pub..oh and The Middleton Pub.....and one of my favourite haunts as a kid,in fact where I brought my first ever record from ......Kelleys records

Yup.........that smell of coffee as you were heading towards the arcades and sea front takes me right back.

Wow, this has been some memory filled last hour. makes me feel even more home sick than i am all ready

THE place to shop if you wanted a lilac Explosive Fibres tracksuit circa 1989/90.
 
Owen Wallis - Downstairs was boring old hardware, but the upstairs department was a joy for young children because it meant a trip to the beach was imminent. Owen Wallis' largely summer orientated toy department must have made a mint selling buckets, spades, beach balls, lilos, rubber rings etc
