Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Thread - Summer 2025 Edition.

Transfer news
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, no mention of Waldron, Wood? It`s a balance, I think that the rough diamonds that you find are young and on the up with much more potential for improvement. The likes of Hopper, Bonne and Walker who seemed to be panic buys and more of a gamble as has played out last season with the lack of goals. I hope that they do get the recruitment right this season as we need to make up a fair few points as 67pts will probably not be enough for 7th position. Consistency is the key and we certainly need to do better at Home.

I’ve just looked on Crawleys website and nothing about signing Danny Cashman.
Surely if it was a done deal last week, wouldn’t Crawley have announced the signing by now?
Perhaps he is considering other options ? Maybe we are still in the mix. Could be that I’m desperately clutching at straws.

It's now rumors Spasov has passed his medical
Targets have different categories as far as I'm concerned, and if they are wanted by us they are wanted by other clubs as well. So if we will have multiple choices for each postion we want we will have options for players we may lose whether that's via transfer or injury.
Dream option 1/2 players
Battle it out with other clubs 1/2 options
Solid 1/2 options
Prospect 1/2 options
Desperate

Wasn’t there a stop on the EFL transfer window for a few days recently?

The 2025 English football summer transfer window runs from 1 June to 10 June (due to an exceptional registration period mandated by FIFA for the Club World Cup), and then between 16 June and 1 September 2025. [1][2] Players without a club can be signed at any time, clubs can sign players on loan dependent on their league's regulations, and clubs could sign a goalkeeper on an emergency loan if they had no registered senior goalkeeper available.

Their fans are probably going nuts too, asking how /why is it taking so long to sign him when the only other clubs interested are non league. The modern online football fan

Why is shopping in the NLS N/S showing a lack of ambition?

Was Tilly showing a lack of ambition when he targeted Freddy Eastwood?

Was Sturrock showing a lack of ambition when he picked up Ryan Hall?

Was Maher showing a lack of ambition when he signed Gus Scott-Morriss?

How about Leon Parillon?

And Kensdale and Cardwell?

They were all signed from NLN/S clubs.

Should Maher instead be targeting more players like Moncur, Bonne and Walker signed from L1/L2?
Agree, signing NLS/NLN players can not be simply described as unambitious, yes some perceive it as a step down, it’s not. Recruiting from National League North or South is often smarter than chasing a big name.
These leagues are full of young players released from EFL and Premier League academies who’ve dropped down resulting in playing real, competitive football, not development matches without the backdrop of a proper crowd watching on.
They can be fitter and hungrier than many a journeyman pro and that’s why even League One and Two clubs scout these divisions heavily these days.
It’s not about where a player is, it’s about where they’re heading. Ambition is spotting it and ideally securing it.

Bloody hell YB, Eastwood ! if you trawl back a couple of decades and about 100 transfers you can find the odd success ! I would argue, Kensdale aside, the current regime have not signed a single NLN or S player that is EFL standard. Leon is not proven yet, Cardwell is a NL bench player. The current transfer policy turned things round big time for us and inexpensively stopped the rot. I'm not convinced it will get us where we want. No players have gone on to be worth real money. Please don't say £150K for Cardwell isn't to be sniffed at because I think it is and if it didn't trigger his contract I hope we would have turned it down. Whilst GSM can't pass, cross or defend like a EFL player I hope we don't 'cash in' on him unless it's a daft offer. Forward wise apart from Cardwell there is Wood, Powell, Wreh, Waldron ?

You've mentioned Brandon Goodship maybe 150 times on this forum since he left the club.

I remember how excited people were when Moncur arrived (heady days of GM appreciation thread) turned sour pretty fast. I don’t get down or upset by perceived bad singings till I’ve seen them. Remember Dalby looking underwhelming stats wise. Spasov seems like a good find to me. Couple of current players discounted after last year’s showing will be better next year too in my eyes. Excited for who we get CB and pace wise.

Just looking on the Crawley fans forum and noticed this post;

" Yes I am not sure either. Worthing fans seen to be split whether will miss him and whether can play at our level. Apparently likes to be main man and links better with some players than others. May be worth a punt if Scott can develop him to his full potential. Hopefully, not another Rodari who could not make the step up".

Maybe we felt he wouldn`t be a team player and fit in to the close bond our players have. Maybe people jumping to the cost, but may not have been the reason.

Can you win with kids ?

Developing NLN NLS players with potential or young players coming out of academies who haven't made it at premier/championship level as the place to look rather than established players in EFL/non league. ?

Taylor, Ralph, GSM, Bridge Miley, Husin, Hopper, Walker of the current contracted players can’t be considered as kids, you do need a blend of both

Does anyone know if we have run the rule over Jack Spong of Worthing?

On their fans forum they seem to think that he maybe going elsewhere and would be a bigger loss than Cashman.

Plays CM/DM so maybe not what we are looking for.

I get that we are looking to get/looking at two top players and two rough diamonds. Is it just me that is disappointed that the two ‘top players’ out of the four linked are Cashman and Pereira presumably? I really don’t see how they would be classed as ‘top players’ that would get us out of this division
