Wembley tickets

The East and North east London migration from the 50's onwards were all Spurs and West Ham. No true north of the river Londoner could stomach Arsenal back then.. and no one can stomach any team that tries to call itself 'The'
I was six months away from supporting Arsenal (post #2,950) - we lived in Stroud Green next to Finsbury Park. But we moved to Basildon.
Back then, Arsenal were nowhere near the force of the early 70s and later.
Mum would always remind as I came back crestfallen after a defeat to Chester or some other lowly: "...and to think we lived a thrupenny bus ride from Highbury!"

I don’t think so. If I remember rightly (I wasn’t there) we took in the region of 30,000 to Wembley for the Wycombe play off. We did not then see that number clamouring for seats for home games thereafter. I should think about half of the people going on Sunday are attracted by the day out at Wembley.

Indeed. Probably nearly half of those going haven't seen us play since the last Wembley final and won't come again until the next one.

That's why I was disappointed that the club prioritised 3rd and 4th tickets for season ticket holders over other supporters with a purchase history.

I think 35,000 was estimated by the club when general sale was halted when 8000 we in the online queue and 600 in the car park. And each of those people wouldn’t be buying just one ticket. I think 35k was quite a conservative estimate at that point in time…
One thing we can agree on, we will never know and it's the biggest ticket **** up in the history of our game.

Why should they have reduced the STH allocation - stop picking on STH.

STH purchased 12,500, that still left well over 10,000 for everyone else; maybe they could have prioritised those next batch for supporters with purchase history, but how much purchase history?

I have purchased tickets for others, so it would be against me and not them - so how would that work?

So 25,000 for us and 21k to 23k Oldham (not sure anything official from the club) plus hospitality and neutrals etc - should top 50k on the day!

In the end Oldham had enough tickets, we would undoubtedly have sold more if they were not tied to coach packages, but I think all true fans have a ticket now. I think for Crewe at Wembley from memory we took 30K and then for Wycombe about 22k, as all the day trippers had a day out at Wembley a couple of years earlier.

I think we would have sold close to 30k again if it hadn't been for all this ****ing about with tickets.

Feel for the club if they have deposits on coaches that they won't require, massive claim against the National League I think in the post mortem, but for now lets enjoy the game, forget about the ticket fiasco of the highest proportion and get out of this tin pot league!

I'm not picking on STH, of which I'm one. Just saying it would have been nice if regular purchasers of tickets and actual attenders of games found themselves further up the queue.

The problem is the club would be damned whatever they did. There was no solution that would have pleased everyone. The only solution would have been extra seats being made available, which was out of the club's control and which I suspect the club expected, hence still allowing 4 tickets per STH.

But why do they not want more ticket sales - at the very least that would be more money on food and drinks and I presume they get a cut of every ticket sold. Why are they motivated to have a smaller rather than bigger crowd?
I know the subject of ticket blocking by the stadium and league officials has been flogged to death. But I’ve just got to have my say.
The level of incompetence by the ticket allocation officials (Wembley and league) is so f_cking unbelievable. The excuses for restricting ticket sales is beyond ridiculous.
We are being treated like 2nd class citizens. Football isn’t just about the premier league clubs, all clubs attending a major final at Wembley should be treated equally.
But really when you look at how our utilities are run, how our politicians run the country. Everything is just one big mess. Yet failure is rewarded to the untouchables.
Rant over.
I just hope the supporters currently without tickets, do get sorted.
Hopefully there may still be time to release some more tickets. This debacle should never ever of happened.

Turns out I ordered the wrong coach package and the ticket office can't change the coach without changing the ticket...

So it looks like there's going to be one less person taking the coach afterall.
