Lets see who bottles it the players or the management with there tactics and substitutions You see im still not convinced we will make it ,after all we are Southend United and nothing goes smoothly for us ,lets be honest lost twice to Maidenhead, got beaten by Sittingbourne, In all fairness i hope im proved wrong, but still not convinced . We hung on for dear life against Eastleigh after being 2-0 up,what their manager said has a ring of truth to me if the shot of theirs had went in and not hit the post we may well have lost that match . Rode our luck in that 2nd half after playing so well the 1st half . Until we start to put away 50% of the chances we create we are a team waiting for Dr Death to come put us out off our misery .

I'm in two minds about that game now - I was sad at the time & clearly losing was not the plan but if that means we have less games to play now and if that means we have a better chance of getting into the play-offs then I am more inclined to see the silver lining rather than the cloud.

Who knows? [shake of shoulders]

It certainly is:

I would predict the other three games that mean something for us:

Altrincham 2-1 Solihull - Solihull have been on a massive downer since Matt Taylor took the helm
Rochdale 1-0 York - I think the last 2 results for 'Dale will be a wake up call for them.
Woking 0-1 Halifax - can't see Woking winning against Halifax, although a few injured for the Shaymen and Halifax have a worse goals for than us by miles. (they don't average a goal a game, but don't concede alot.

All not in our interest, so getting something tonight is crucial for us if I am right..

As a caveat, I very rarely get any acca in, so if I'm wrong on one or two of the above, no-one will be happier than me, lol.
Predictions/ bets at this time of the season are always risky old boy.

I still think it'll go to the wire with many twists and turns (us Southend fans are used to this) and would actually be happy with a point tonight.

My post was to point out that we are a Jekyl and Hide type off team , play so well for a while then completely change, thats the reason im still not convinced . As for you ORM i can honestly tell you and many friends will tstify to this ,i was certainly the life of a party in my younger years .

Agreed, a point tonight could still leave it in our own hands.

I’d hope we’d be wrapped up safely in the playoffs by the time we go to Gateshead on the last day, but you just know it’ll come down to that game.

So that makes us about a 15/1 chance to go up suggesting the 18/1 to 20/1 available from the bookies is good value. Except we have no idea how reliable his calculations are.

Jekyl and Hide applies to 22 teams in the National league. Its the same most seasons. You get a clear leader and someone having a Weston in last place. Even Chesterfield ended up on the beach this time last year.

Apart from Barnet, under current form we have gone the longest without losing. Barnet have 28 from 30 points. They haven't scored many more goals than us but the key factor is they have only conceded 2. We have battled back and won some vital points in recent games. Others claim its 2 dropped. You can only drop points if your in the lead after an hour. For the team and the run those draws are worth more than point.

It amazes me how many fans think its all down to how many you score. Strikers can win you games but Its defences that win titles.

Indeed, you only have to look at that save Nick Hayes made on Saturday, I said at the time it was as good as a goal.
