Southend to play West Ham - Tuesday August 3rd

Cant say i can get excited about any Southend stuff of late and i've hardly got a boner over this. I very much doubt i'll be heading down to the game for plenty of the aforementioned reasons above ...

As much as I'd like to watch us against the Hamsters, I too wont be going because i dont fancy being surrounded by the neanderthal thugs making me feel as popular as a fart in an elevator whilst sitting in my seat in the West Stand......

Amazing that at the Southampton game , you had the cheek to chant " Loyal Supporters" you won't even attend a "rival" game because your to scared.

Waited over 25 minutes on hold only to be told i can't get my usual season ticket seat. Chances are its probably full of West Ham fans seeing as its right by the away subs bench and in front of the away directors.

Whilst on the phone waiting i did here some rather outdated messages

1=> Next home game is on the 3rd March against Millwall at 7.45pm (was a bit worried about this one as i didn't hear the date and thought they had changed the friendly opposition
2=> If you knew a young Southend supporter you could sign them up the the 2008/09 season Junior Blues for free

Just out of interest does anyone know how many people answer the hotline phones, i was waiting about 3-5 minutes before i had moved one step closer in the queue. I was on the phone for less than 2 minutes? Surely that means its one man and his dog answering the phones??

Good idea to raise some much needed cash, but I can see this match causing more problems than solutions! It's no different to when we played Col Ewe in a 'friendly' at the beginning of the Wignall era.

This board's unbelievable at times...

The same people who were demanding we organise a friendly with Premiership opposition, if only to boost the coffers, are the ones up in arms when we actually do it because it's West Ham. Who did you think would come here on such short notice? Spurs? Arsenal? Barcelona? Say we get a capacity of 8,000 (in line with previous friendlies) at a cost of £7.50 average price, That's £60,000 on gate receipts that we wouldn't have had.

If you don't like it, don't go. It's simple enough... I can put up with 3,000 dirty Spammers for one night only if it means we get a much needed cash injection.

i got my tickets today, although im looking forward to it i know its going to be fully muggy wet spammers. there was blokes in the q today asking for tickets in the away end and when he was told he couldn't he bought them in the home end. i really just can't stand their fans. they are just such ******s.

Not quite going to be that much though is it ? West Ham normally charge around the 40/50% of gate receipts to turn up, that brings your £60k down to £30k and then there's going to be the policing costs which i understand is around £12k for a high profile match like this one, profit is tumbling again to £18k. Now I now in our postition that amount is not to be sneezed at but is it really worth a night of intimidation to turn up for this amount, I'd rather give the club the tenner and spend the night at home. The Spam supporters really are horrible, almost as horrible as Millwall I just cant be motivated to go......

The thing that bugs me is that bloke is probably at RH every second Saturday.

The guy must be on our database to be able to buy the tickets?. Thats the ironic thing, 9 times out of 10 he attends a game and cheers for us. The 10th time he will no doubt make his voice heard in the same area where he usually sits, only this time cheering for the spammers. The only way to beat this is for all our fans to turn up and generate an atmosphere like the Gills home game last october, instead of staying away because of the inevitable numbers of spammers who will be in the east and west stands. Reading many comments on here, anyone would believe their fans were all super-hard geezers. They are no different from us (apart from being more mouthy), so i find it rather pathetic the reasons fans are giving for not going. Lets face it, if the same scenario was repeated with Orient or Col U fans encroaching into our seating areas en masse, would the same fans still not attend?.

Got my ticket in the blue voice and hope we sing louder than those silly mockneys.

You all support southend
All live in southend you know you all live in southend

A massive fail from the club on the text ticket front.

Mine have still not turned up and the club's line is a most helpful "they've been sent, you'll have to wait for them." I'm not the only one it seems, as I know many that have not seen their text tickets turn up. A fourth phone call to the club on Monday morning it is then.
