Zero hour contracts

Ok so work the zero hours contracts, get some work experience and try to get a more secure job.

Great idea, lets go back to the 70's when Arthur Scargill ran the country.

You and I are normally in agreement on most political things, but if you haven't had experience of them, you're really not best placed to comment.

Arthur Scargill never ran the country. He was the leader of the Yorkshire Miners during this time. The same people run the country then as they do now. Only a lot easier than they did then.

Yes I know who Arthur Scargill was. His aim was to bring down the government and he failed dismally. and the same people run the country now and still have to sort out the mess created by the previous government, as they are doing now.

You might have noticed that there was a global financial crisis back in 2008.

The present Tory led goverment promised to eradicate the deficit in one parliamentary term-something they have singularly failed to do.

I thought it had been reported that we have one of the strongest economies in the world. When I say we Barna, I obviously mean the UK. How are your lot doing?

The basis of the UK's recent economic growth (as with the US) can be attributed to QE (or quantative easing), quite literally printing money.

Zero hour contracts and an increase in part-time, low wage jobs rather than FT jobs, have also helped.

IMO,it's high time the European Central Bank (ECB), also started printing money.Unfortunately,Germany won't play ball.

Sooner or later they'll have to.If they want to save the Eurozone from splitting up,that is.

Is that through choice Cyril?

Absolutely.

As I explained there is nothing inherently wrong with zero hour contracts unless they are being abused by unscrupulous employers.

People on or around the minimum wage should have guaranteed hours.

If you don't have the decency to pay people a living hourly rate you should at the very least give them the security of a guaranteed weekly wage.

I agree mostly Cyril. There will be some cases where ZHC's are necessary to keep a firm alive and save jobs. Not every business owner is a bad guy.

Germany and France missed dropping back in to recession by the skin of their teeth, hardly a business model the rest of the world should be following. By the way, your paradise on earth is running at 27% unemployment so you or anyone else making suggestions that the Tories have failed are frankly the ramblings of a bitter and twisted old socialist.

Perhaps they could reduce that figure if they had more zero hour contracts

Which is precisely why the anti-capitalist movement here, (Podemos) and in Greece (Syriza), look set to make big gains in elections next year.

Unless,Germany and the ECB sanction a healthy dose of QE soon, democracy in Europe will be at risk.In France,, of course, there is a real risk that Marine La Pen's fascist FN will be in the second round of the ballot in the Presidential elections in a little over two years time.Just as her father was in the past.

Talking of the Tories, I notice that in a poll in today's Observer, Labour have a 4 point lead over them again.

Like it or not, Ed. Miliband will be the PM next May.

(Btw,I'm neither bitter nor twisted,just concerned).:smiles:

But almost certainly deluded

Oh don't you start as well with these Guardian links of woe. There are ten positions for Tipper Drivers at my place as an example and we are struggling to fill them. It's only as bad as you want it to be or be lead to believe.

I could enter into the realms of the current bun or the daily fail if you wish me to post ******** Al :)

It would make a change from the left wing biased Guardian which is equally bollocks.
I agree, it would make a nice change to have a link to the Sun, a girl with her tits out and the quote 'Sandra from Doncaster says though she sympathises with the workers at Sports Direct not knowing if they will have enough working hours to cover their rent at least they do Nike Airs in half sizes' or the Mail commentary column saying .'people not willing to sit by the phone all day waiting to see if they will be needed for a couple if hours being defended is political correctness gone mad'. Rather than the Guardian or BBC.

Not according to the very poll you linked to.

A Treasury spokesman said: “The government has published groundbreaking cumulative distributional analysis with every budget and autumn statement of this parliament. This has clearly shown that the richest households are making the biggest contribution to reducing the deficit.”

Shadow chancellor Ed Balls claimed that Labour planned to balance the books in a fairer way. He said: “This is a damning analysis of David Cameron and George Osborne’s record. It demolishes any last pretence that we are somehow all in this together.”

When exactly are Milliband, Balls and co [you know, the ones who dropped us in this mess in the first place]going to explain how they are going to make the UK a fairer, happy chappie utopia. Saying they have learned from past mistakes without actually saying sorry doesn't quite cut it with me.

To be fair, you don't name the biggest culprit!
