Your unfulfilled ambition

The one thing I spent my life saying I was going to do was learn to fly, and (as mentioned on many other threads) I have managed that.

Funny, in those terms my wife is miles ahead of me. Nearly all the things she's wanted to do in life she has done. In the three years before we met she did the Himalayas, Kilimanjaro and the Inca Trail.

We both always wanted to SCUBA dive, so we learnt and then we went to the Maldives for our honeymoon to dive. The one diving thing she doesn't want to do that I do, is wreck diving. So SBH, when you've got your PADI, let me know.

However, the one ambition she has outstanding is to wing walk, so we're looking into it!

Will do, LondonBlue!

I'm more than happy to let you fly me somewhere expensive too, but I am hoping for a seat INSIDE the plane rather than doing what I refer to as a "Gordon Connelly" (which of course everyone knows is slang for walking along the wing as he couldn't be bothered to do much else).

I've jumped out of planes. I've worked in conflict zones. I've spent time caving, climbing, abseiling, skiing (recreational and competitive), surfboarding, kayaking, canoeing, snorkelling, scuba diving, shooting and experiencing many other outdoor recreations. I've experienced the best and worst of emotions. I've wavered painfully between too much and not enough money. I've experienced good friends leave this world for another (if it exists) long before their time.

My unfulfilled ambition is to write a book about my experiences and my better half suggested that I use such an ambition to deal with reaching 40 next year (for it is a strange experience to think about finally achieving such a milestone). So far I have written two sentences in three months ...

So probably not a lot of point me putting it on my Christmas list?

Try dj'ing to 1200 ...Actually its far easier that 50 .

thats a very very good point

i was talking to someone the other day, and they asked what i most prefere to do DJ wise, and i said anything where people are drinking... as if people drink they are more likely to dance. Theres nothing more depressing for a DJ than an empty dancefloor... no matter how much your getting paid (if you love music that is).

The event i do for 300odd people each year i do for free, but i get the most satisfaction out of it.

Random ambitions that I hope I'll get to fulfil at one point:

* Become a Dad
* Take a flight in a hot air balloon
* Sail a yacht with my Dad where we start in one country and finish in another (even England - France would do)
* Watch the opening ball of a Boxing Day Ashes Test at the MCG
* Watch at least one day of a Test match in each of Sri Lanka, South Africa and the West Indies
* Watch "El Superclassico" - River v. Boca - in Buenos Aires
* Properly learn about "les Denominations" of French wine
* Have Spaghetti Bolognese in Bologna

I'm already booked in to tick off another random ambition later on this year: I always wanted to go to a Christmas Market in Germany, so I've booked a wee trip for me and the wife.

So, there you go!

:D
