Your first car!

Ford Anglia ...But mine had flared arches and was metalic blue, with big chrome wheels and lots of dials on the dashboard.

QUOTE]

I've always wanted an Ford Anglia

Have to say that driving past Days of Grace does seem to jog the memory... I quite fancy a Mk2 RS2000, just not sure it would stand the 110 miles a day round trip to work though

My first car was a 1957 Morris Traveller which set me back £45 when I bought it in 1976. Had no license and didn't know how to change down gears but that didn't stop me driving to Chelmsford to tax it. Broke two laws (at least) so that I wouldn't break one!

Had seven of us in it one day for an away match at Cambridge; petrol money didn't amount to much that day :)

Cortina MKII 1600E, still the knackers

Pocket Rocket of a Fiat Punto. It rocks. Quite literally when I'm going flat out on the A130.

I had a brown Austin Allegro as my very first car although I did not buy it!

My purchases have been:

JPS Mk II Capri
Fiesta XR2 Mk I
Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9
Escort RS Turbo Mk II (Still Owned)
Astra 2.0 Sport Estate
Vectra 2.5 SRI Hatchback
Vectra 2.6 GSI Hatchback (Still Owned)

Looking to change to:

Focus ST 2
BMW M3 Convertible

A 'G' reg ford Escort 1.6 Ghia in metallic blue. Was a bit of a deceptive car as it looked ok from the outside but was a bit of a wreck mechanically and was always going wrong. By the time I disposed of it the speedo and fuel gauge didn't work and the gearbox was knackered.

After this I bought a british racing green P reg Peugeot 406 GLX DT, which served me well for 130,000 miles and seven years until I had to scrap it a couple of weeks ago.

My first car was a 1200cc Ford Anglia in green - 862 DCD.:)

Future wife ran it up a tree on Priory Crescent three weeks after I had a new engine installed and wrote it off.

My first was a lovely rusty orange colour 'W' reg Escort 1L, bought from a work colleague for the princely sum of £100. Ran it for a year then sold it on to a mate for £75. It broke down and never ran again !!! Too long a list of cars between then and now for me to remember at the mo. Latest in the list are my own R plate Vauxhall Vectra (auto) which my wife does her best to destroy as I also have a new shape 07 Ford Focus TDCI as my company car. Can't grumble really........

Mine was a pimped up R reg mini.

Had nice plush black seats, walnut dash, black vinyl roof, go faster stripes, Carlos Fandango Super Wide alloy wheels, flared wheel arches and a cracking stereo.

My parents bought it from the car showroom I worked in during holidays / Saturdays as a surprise. Only found out when I got home. I was well chuffed.

Overriding memories:
Crashing in to my woodwork teacher outside my school as I was going home for lunch.
Shorting the electrics after cleaning the engine one day at work and driving home from the Grand in the peeing rain with no wipers / lights etc
Finding out the hard way that there's not enough room for courting couples in the back.
Writing it off in the snow one evening.

Ford Cortina Mark 1................baught on a saturday mornig...spent all day polishing it and then rolled it in the underpass in southend and wrote it off................but it was 22 years ago

How did you explain that one to the police?

They were at the top of the underpass and promptly arrested me as i was over the limit. i had not even passed my test..............stupid and young but now completely reformed :)

A REALLY crappy old, red Fiesta - the exhaust was hanging off the bottom, so every time I went over a speedbump there'd be a massive CRRRRRRUNCH, as it ground along the tarmac...

The bonnet was pink, thanks to the fading of the dubious quality Ford paint, which made me look much more manly.

You see many a once-red Ford now proudly sporting pink paintwork...
Very fetching!

Mine was a Worsley Hornet, which was a bit like a Mini with a boot. I say it was mine, it was my Mum's really, but I used more than she did.

Why do I remember it? I got my first BJ in there & also christaned the back seats too! My Mum wasn't too chuffed when she found out several years on. I still have the key on my keyring today.

BTW, for a little car, it certainly shifted!
