Your right, cause i got my Mum to record the concert off Radio 1 while i was there.

I've still got it on cassette to this day.

Think i see some bootlegs on ebay of t.he same gig

I auditioned for Sleeper when their bass player quit (1997?) - Louise was very sweet

Did you see a heavily pregnant (and blooming) LW on the History of Britpop programmes a few months ago?

She's still got it.......

How about The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, late 70's at the Kursal.
Sounds like there are a few others on here who are old enough to know what im talking about

I doubt I was born when The Sensational Alex Harvey Band released their first record but I'm well aware of their work. In fact, fans of Kings of Leon should check out "Midnight Moses" - the similarity is astounding! Wish I'd seen some gigs at the Kursaal

Quote[/b] (Ron Manager @ Jan. 02 2006,19:59)]I once saw REM at MK Bowl supported by Blur and Belly (90's American female fronted College/Indie band, I was a bit of a fan) which was some line-up.

I have to say I've never been a huge REM fan (I went more for the other two bands) but they were very impressive hat day.
I was there! Funnily enough I had a bit of a thing about the female lead singer from Belly, whose name escapes me. Their tune 'Feed the tree' stayed in my head for days afterwards along with Blur's 'Country House'.

My best gig ever? Hmm, tough one. A few highlights:-

i) Saw Springsteen in the US in 2002. Whatever you think of him his band and live show are fantastic and to see him out there was quite something.

ii) Stone Roses at Spike Island. Even though it very definitely felt like the end of something, everyone was so happy. Must have been the drugs.

iii) U2 at Wembley Arena in 1987. A week or so before they went across the road to play their first headline shows at the stadium they played a more intimate gig. Tickets were gold-dust.

Early Blur gigs were always manic as well, I especially remember one at Brixton Academy where Damon risked life and limb clambering all over the lighting rig - he was off his face.
and at Brixton Academy to see Blur on the "Blur" album tour, after Gillingham away when Boere scored in the last minute ! !

(With Ron Manager ironically)
I was there as well, ironically with you two.

Manics at the Astoria in Dec 94 is probably my fave ever - touring the Holy Bible album but also throwing in Bright Eyes and Wham's Last Christmas. Smashed up all their equipment whilst playing You Love Us and a month later Richey fooked off never to be seen again.

closely followed by Supergrass at Shepherds Bush Empire in Jan 98, touring In It For The Money album. Never been so p%&sed at a gig in my life..........

One of my biggest regrets when it comes to gigs is not seeing the Manics on the last tour with Richey. I saw them live for the previous 2 albums (Astoria in '92, Cliffs Pavillion in '93) and even saw them on the "This is my Truth..." tour (God knows why, must have been swayed by the fact that Mogwai supported). Thinking back now, I don't know why I didn't go to any "Holy Bible" shows as I really loved the album. That particular Astoria show you went to is quite legendary now.

yeah, I've been trying to track down a video of it, even a ropey bootleg, for years but to no avail.

The mate I was with took a few photos ( until the security stopped him ) and that is our only recorded memory

I unfortunately missed the Cliffs gig cos I was in Tenerife, typical!

The Cliffs Pavilion gig rocked...afterwards they opened up the backstage door and invited all the fans lingering (including me) into the dressing room...

Loved the first two Manics albums, after that it all went downhill...they got fat and boring...

I think you mean after the first three albums - you can't accuse The Holy Bible of being 'fat and boring' like the later ones.

Probably still my favourite album of all time.........( feel another thread coming up! )

Ooooh, sacriledge

- as much as I loved the first 2 albums at the time I have to admit that they don't stand up now whereas "The Holy Bible" still blows me away every time.

You may not have liked it Ed, but it was really visceral. Not the record of a 'fat and bored' band.

They got very 'fat and bored' after the huge commerical success of 'Everything Must Go' though.
