Your favourite ever Gig

Quote[/b] (Ron Manager @ Dec. 27 2005,20:07)]Too many to narrow it down to one to be honest. The early Oasis ones (before they started playing huge outdoor shows) were all amazing, especially the one at the Cliffs (my home town etc).

Early Blur gigs were always manic as well, I especially remember one at Brixton Academy where Damon risked life and limb clambering all over the lighting rig - he was off his face.
Same here - was at Oasis by the Sea as well, and at Brixton Academy to see Blur on the "Blur" album tour, after Gillingham away when Boere scored in the last minute ! !

(With Ron Manager ironically)

Soundtrack Of Our Lives in camden this year without a doubt, one of the best nights of me life!

Oasis at Wembley stadium was amazing aswell, first gig thing etc.

Guns n Roses/Weezer at Docklands 2002
The Coral/The Music at Sheffield Leadmill 2002
Gene at the Astoria 2003
Oasis Finsbury Park 2001.
Blur at Reading 2003.
The Manics at Wembley 2002.
Terrorvision/Feeder at the Cliffs 1995 (first ever gig).

Supertramp - Royal Albert Hall 1997
V2004 - Chelmsford (Coldplay/Foo Fighters)
Knebworth 80 (Mike Oldfield, Beach Boys, Santana, Elkie Brooks, Blues Band, Nine Below Zero)
Nine Below Zero - Cliffs Pavillion (Early 80's)
Any Quo Gig

Manic Street Preachers, Millenium Eve @ The Millenium Stadium!!

What a gig, and an awesome way to see in the year 2000!

I was at Brixton to see Blur when they toured their eponymous album as well - it was a cracking gig.

Probably my favorite was seeing Madness play Finsbury Park for one of their reunion gigs in the mid nineties. Classic.

This year - Maximo Park, Glasgow Barrowlands a couple of weeks ago.  Totally f**king amazing!!!!

All-time, a 3 way tie I reckon:-
1995 Radiohead, Amsterdam Melkweg - 1st time I ever saw them live, this was The Bends tour when OK Computer was a work-in-progress.  Got a taster with Lucky though & they did the best cover version ever of Nobody Does It Better.  And I pulled some Dutch sort at the after-show indie disco!
2000 Travis, London Astoria - me & the Mrs got tickets to go to a Saturday lunchtime free gig that was being broadcast on Japanese TV.  This was just as Travis started to make it big & the music just seemed so perfect.  Dougie the bassplayer recognised us from the gig they had played in Cambridge a couple of weeks earlier & kept making cheeky comments to us between songs. Even surrealy emerging into the bright summer sunshine to find we were getting thumped at Rochdale couldn't take the smile off my face!
2002 Pulp, Glasgow Gig on the Green - one of Pulp's last ever live shows, and the only time I ever got to see Jarv perform one of my fave Pulp songs "Joyriders" - not that special you may think, but considering I've seen them live about 15 times, one that sticks in my mind.  I think it was so special too as the whole crowd was so into them & we all knew something amazing was coming to an end.

Notable mentions too to Doves (Barrowlands 2003 - only time it's taken 2 days for the ringing in my ears to subside) & Embrace (Secret Gig #12, Angel of the North, Gateshead 2004 - a great way to break up the journey back from Southend v Kiddy & my mates 30th)

Ian Dury and the Blockheads at the T&C
Biz Markie at the Essential Festival - beatboxing and scratching with his belly
U2 at Earls Court

but the best is Edwin Starr at the Jazz Cafe a few years back. Superb presence, great timing, great songs.

For me would say Oasis this year, on the opening night at the MK Bowl. Brilliant day from start to finish. The Zutons supported and they too were brilliant.

Other good gigs would be Madness at Wembley Arena, BabyShambles at Chinnerys and Bad Manners there aswell

Not a gig, but in the DJ Tent at Get Loaded this year, Fatboy Slim and Armand Van Helden

Hardly a proper gig, but I've been watching my bro's REM Perfect Square 95 concert on DVD, would've loved to have been there, sounded fantastic.

Also, bit more recent, again, wishing I had gone to it now, REM in June this year, my bro tells me they were brilliant.

Bugger.

I once saw REM at MK Bowl supported by Blur and Belly (90's American female fronted College/Indie band, I was a bit of a fan) which was some line-up.

I have to say I've never been a huge REM fan (I went more for the other two bands) but they were very impressive hat day.

I was lucky enough to see REM at Brixton Academy the other year. There a great live act, but i would have liked to have seen them in an arena or stadium to have got the full effect!

Blur are great live, would be interesting to see them now Graham Coxon has left. Another one i want to add to my favourite is Spaceman 3 at the Pink Toothbrush around 1991. Shoe Gazing Amazing!!!!!

Sultans of Ping and Radiohead (supporting!!) at Pink Toothbrush in 1992.

Blur on Modern Life is Rubbish tour Essex Uni in Colch*ster 1993.

Nirvana and Manics (when they were still good) - Reading 92.

Beth Orton La Belle Angele, Edinburgh 97.

REM Bush Hall Shepherd's Bush 2003.

Chili Peppers V 2003.

Didn't realise Pulp had split up...

Unfortunately it's true. Mr Cocker is now living in France with his wife & daughter, although I have heard possible murmerings of a reunion tour, let's hope so eh!!!

arctic monkeys at chinnerys last year

got my ticket for £10 which i thought was a rip off at the time as they were unknown. 1 month later they are all over nme and mtv2 and tickets selling for £70 on ebay. value for money

the gig was quite good aswell!!

I went to that gig too, but on the Sunday where Sleeper, The Cranberries and Radiohead supported REM. What a lineup!!

It was such a hot day and crowded.

I too was never a great REM fan before i went to that gig, but i'm a massive fan since after that great day!

It was the Monster tour wasn't it?

Similarly, as much as have always appreciated Coldplay, I have always thought of them as a bit dull, and Chris Martin, as Liam elegantly put it 'a plant pot'!

However, after seeing them on the first night at Earls Court last month - what can I say - mind blowing!  Now I can't get enough, stick X&Y in your stereo for long enough and you'll soon be swayed!

Apart from the Cranberries.....whinging Irish bird alert!

However (as has been mentioned on here before) Louise Wener from Sleeper....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

I think I listened to this being broadcast on Radio 1, didn't Micheal Stipe get the crowd to sing Happy Birthday to Miss Wener?

You're right I think it was the Monster tour. Radiohead were pretty much on the whole tour with them including in the US which is where they made their breakthrough over there - playing loads of big shows as support and growing by word of mouth.
