Your favourite ever Gig

Maldon Blues

Yeeeeeeellows
So what's the best gig you've ever been too.

It's been a good year for this Maldon Blues in 2005 having seen The Soundtrack of our Lives (twice), The Bees (twice), The Redwalls, The Subways (twice), The Doves (twice), Oasis (three times), The 22-20s, Secret Machines, The Coral, Ocean Colour Scene, Richard Ashcroft, Coldplay, Embrace, Ian Brown, Bootleg Beatles and The Bravery.

Oasis, in Manchester, needless to say were superb, and I was really impressed with Coldplay, who are fabulous live.

Number One for me was 'The Soundtrack of Our Lives' at Camden Electric Ballroom in March (and thats without what happened afterwards!), if you don't know them, check them out!

What's been everyone's fav this year, or indeed all time gig?

The best gig I've ever been to was when I was Slayer at the London Astoria in 2002, the whole place was going absolutely nuts Slayer were on top form, and I cut my head open during the first song and was covered in blood for the rest of the set!!

Best this year - Arcade Fire's first ever UK show at the King's College Student Union in March.

Best ever - a toss up between Jane's Addiction at the Astoria in 1991, Brian Wilson at the RFH on the first Pet Sounds tour in 2002, The Strokes at the Col******r Arts Centre in 2001 and The Beta Band at the Y Club, Chelmsford in 1997.

Green Day at the Milton Keynes Bowl this year. The most energetic 6 hours ever, they were fantastic, enormous crowd, glorious sunshine, absolutely f%&king brilliant. it was on tv the other night and brought back all the great memories. the CD/DVD Bullet in a Bible is out now, if you're a fan, buy it

Less than Jake at the Astoria, Hundred Reasons and Muse at the London Arena, and Reading 2001. Was ill after that tho...

Great Venue is Milton Keynes Bowl.

For those who have never been it is just that - a Bowl! Huge grass banks with a flat grass area in the middle. Many reckon its the best venue going, yet so simple!

I'm awkward i have several. Best night was probably V98 within a mental 2 hrs i saw The Verve, Underworld and James Brown! I saw Robbie Williams when he released 'Angels' and was getting big, that was totally shocking he is a performer i don't like him but man that guy can perform. The Who that was mental and went on for hours. Depeche Mode when they were having there drug battles in the early 90's. Another great gig was Pulp at Reading when the clouds opened.

Actually i saw one of my best ever gigs this February at Brixton Academy. The band were the industrial metallers RAMMSTEIN!!!!! Wow i've never experienced nothing like that and i've seen 200+ bands in 15 years!!!! Pyro's, Flamethrowers and i came out with a suntan! Go and see this band, it's like a Heavy Metal Circus!!!! Excellent.

It is indeed a fantastic venue, especially if you get such a glorious day. despite the big crowds, was very quick to get served food and drink, and taps all around providing water for refreshments from moshing

and a tip for anyone going, park at the nearby travel inn or travel lodge, it's right by a public park area so it's free. saves a tenner!

Radiohead - South Park, Oxford July 2001.
No contest.
In support...Beck, Sigur Ros and Supergrass.
A special day indeed.
Massive Attack at V '04 is up there. The Magic Numbers at The Borderline last December. Sigur Ros at Glasto 2003. Elliot Smith at Glasto 99.
There's so many. But Radiohead tops it.

My favourite gig is my only gig - Muse at Earls Court last December. They're a quality live band, imo.

Best this year for me was Pixies at Ally Pally in September.

Best ever - it's a tie between British Sea Power at Shepherd's Bush Empire (April 2004) and Wannadies at The Alleycat, Reading (May 1997).

yes they are a great band saw them on there earlier tour at the Docklands place, not a very good venue.

As for best gig ever probably Dr Feelgood at the Kursaal, too many years to remember the exact date.

Too many to narrow it down to one to be honest. The early Oasis ones (before they started playing huge outdoor shows) were all amazing, especially the one at the Cliffs (my home town etc).

Early Blur gigs were always manic as well, I especially remember one at Brixton Academy where Damon risked life and limb clambering all over the lighting rig - he was off his face.

Saw James Brown in the tent the first year he played V, that was absolutely amazing - what a legend!

Also Primal Scream at The Esplanade, as well as various other bands at that much missed venue.

This year, well my little girl's arrival this year has meant not many to choose from but Babyshambles at Chinnerys has to top it for me.

The Jam, Hammersmith Odeon 1979

The Clash Lyceum December 78 (Sort it out Tour)

Secret Affair, Purple Hearts, Back to Zero, Madness , Selector, Mo-dettes (March of the Mods Tour) Lyceum August 80

Slade Kursaal 1975

Stiff Little Fingers at the Barking polytechnic~ Solidarity benefit gig.
Cockney rejects~ Bridgehouse
The Levellers Anarchist benefit gig in peachaven nr Brighton
Oasis when they first played Earls Court.
Seeing The Cult in "secret" gig at the marquee and also iron Maiden at the Ruskin Arms.
