Your favourite country

Uncle Leo

This cook is an anti-semite
Plenty of bile and hate on the other topic, but us Southend fans are a pleasant lot really. So what's your favourite country and why? Doesn't have to be a 'foreign' country, you can of course pick the one you currently live in.

I'll kick off with...Spain. Great food, great football, great weather (most of the time), lived there as a boy and will be returning there for my stag do next summer.

Honourable mentions to Ireland, Portugal, Estonia (the women! My God, the women!), the USA and of course dear old England.

Has to be Ireland for me. Great people, gorgeous places to see and visit.

If I wasnt living here, it'll be there.

2nd one would be Switzerland. Amazing place, if you ever have the chance to go to the Alps, do it! But why Sion has more chemists than proper shops in that city, i'll never know...

Iceland

apart from the high prices ( everythings imported ) a fantastic place - clean air, pure ice cold spring water from the tap, almost 24 hour daylight, good work ethic ( open late - close late ) and the most gorgeous (natural ) blonde females I have ever seen

Seconded - Reykjavik is the finest city I've ever visted, followed closely by Prague, NYC, Venice and Malmo.

It's very co.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

India - Went there in year 10 as part of a school trip, loved it. Sure, they're midgets and you have to be careful when going down stairs quickly, and OK, they're taxi drivers are mad, but still, excellent sunsets.

Since some are probably going to vote for the country they live in, I have no qualms about voting for Spain!

Germany for me. Friendly people, great food, even better beer, healthy lifestyle on tap if you want it, one of the best standards of living in Europe.

Wheres that passport?

Canada. Spent a lot of time there in 2004 and early 05. Laid back friendly lot and once you get out of the major cities it has THE most stunning scenery on the planet.

If you ever get the chance to do the Trans Canadian Railway you will experience something you will never ever forget.

Another major plus point is they absolutely hate America

The Greek half of Cyprus i don't mind. They have a great attitude, in that they hate Turkey and revel in the nightlife they have on show.

The Square in Ayia Napa is one of the liveliest places I've ever visited and is second to none in terms of Nightlife. I've been to Florida before, and Nissia Beach is still the best Beach i've been to and is literally a 5 Minute drive from the main part of Ayia Napa.

The roads are mayhem and the driving is crazy, and there do seem to be a fair amount of Northern Monkeys there, but its a great place to be in the Summer.

England excluded.

Food and Wine - it has to be France even road side cafes do great food, and the country side is great. Spent great summers there in a gite, indulging in these two great past times.

The place i enjoyed myself on business is Vietnam. Went there in the mid 90's and it was so different to the usual Business Asia I went to.

Best country I been to is Dubai, or UAE. You are treated like a king from start to finish. The people are so friendly and crime level minimal due to the zero tolerance attitude - if you steal, they cut your hands off- seriously.

And hundreds of street children living in the underground heating system of Brasilia...or wherever it is

or being killed by corrupt policeman to try and alleviate the problem.
