Yet another goal

Sorry but Ron Martin should analyse this decision alongside the poor judgement of bringing in a stiff like Revell and realise that Tilson will not take us any further and give him the bullet asap!

Yeah, he was quality for us this season and he's definitely not playing in the division below.

Unfortunately with Hooper, he's unlikely to get a run here. He's a talented young player but Tilly seems to run out of patience with him far quicker than certain others, whilst the "fans" here get on his back at the first mistake and his head drops.

I imagine he's thoroughly enjoying playing in front of people who appreciate him, hence the goals.

:hilarious:

Enough is enough, i am serious, not just off the back of another powderpuff performance, he has bought in a lot worse than has been farmed out, including Paynter, no more Eastwood to make him look a good manager i am afraid!

4 goals in 16 starts for Southend (and a remarkable 27 sub appearances). That's all that matters and that's why he's on loan.

Revell's clearly a targetman (not for the fans abuse) and Hooper is a goalscorer.

Barnard came in to replace Hooper and he's got 2 in 3 starts.

I'm surprised you never focus on the defence. It's hard to win away games when you gift them two goals.

I'm afraid we've been spoilt with Tilly as manager. Let's not forget where we were when he took over and compare with where we are now. Yes, Tilly is a sh!t manager and Ron should just sack him now

Then if we do sack him (hypothetically speaking) let's think of who we could get as a replacement. I think you'd be hard pressed to think of many better managers than him who would want to come to this club, both because of the size of the club and the wages we are able to pay. Tilly has made some mistakes, for sure, but let's at least give him the season before we start talking about sacking the best manager we've had in recent years!

It was a poor performance from the team tonight, and they have been inconsistent all year. But in the last few years we have had a successful team, playing well together and fans have got used to that.
If we did scrape into the playoffs this year and get promoted, we would come straight back down again the following year. Why not settle for 9th in the table this year, letting the players get used to one another and push for promotion with a more stable team next year.
Or we could sack Tilson, get some journeyman manager who doesnt care for the club, get relegated and end up where we were 4 years ago. Bottom of league 2. Then Hopper may start scoring......

Anyone with more than 3 contacts and a bit of passion will do! The more i see of his decisions the more i think how lucky he was to fall on Eastwood from Grays. Without him he may have joined the Managerial geniuses Alvin Martin and Rob Newman!

FFS Wiggy !

Revell has only played a couple of games for us and you've already got him written off as a bad buy. Ok so he didnt score after 7 seconds of his debut and he didnt get a hattrick either but you've got to wake up and smell the coffee, Eastwood got lucky, if he hand'nt have scored on his debut then people like you and a few others i could mention would have crucified him as another bad Tilly purchase and who knows his career might have ended there ! Give the new guys a chance, i have seen enough from Revell, Barnard and Charlie Mac to think that they will do well for us. It was people like you that started booing Paynter from his second game, tell me that didnt affect his confidence ! GIVE THEM A CHANCE !

Wouldn't boo anyone but as usual you are giving players like him too long to prove that he is crap. If he can't control a ball or jump and time a header right in his first 3 games then he never will. You didn't need Eastwoods early goal to tell you straight away that he was a good addition to the squad!

to be fair there is one name that will some up tilsons decision making and poor judge of player

MICHAEL KIGHTLY

Have a heart mate, Kightly wasn't good when he was here. It was only at Grays that he found his "inner footballer". What about all the good players Tilson's brought in? How can discarding one player who didn't meet requirements be the summarisation of Tilly's managerial career? Grow up!

Rather than immediately accusing Revell of not being up to standard, perhaps a more valid question is why is it that a player who has been very successful at Brighton this season, and last to be fair, is already struggling to perform in our side?

Paul Clark made an excellent, and valid point tonight, and that is our style of play is not lending itself to a player like Revell at the moment. We are not giving him the ball in the right areas and we are not using his best assets to help us.

The same, perhaps, could be said about Harrold, Paynter, Foran and Hooper - These players have all enjoyed certain levels of success elsewhere, but when they come here, they have struggled - Are we buying the wrong type of players for the system of football we play, or are we just not playing to their strengths?

I don't believe for one second Revell is cr@p, as he has proved at Brighton, a club in the same division as us, and on the face of it, with an inferior squad, that he CAN score goals, and be successful. What we need to do is play to his strengths - play the ball up to him, and get the ball wide and load the box with crosses allowing him to put his height advantage to full use!

Spot on RC - of course Revell is not as bad as he's currently being made to look. But, what does concern me is his inability to hold the ball up and play others in when the ball does come to him. Any time the ball was pinged up front tonight (aimlessly or otherwise) it didn't stick to any of our players.

Harrold should have been on the bench tonight (no need for Grant and Hunt).

Indeed, or Moussa and Scannell really. Harrold could have come on and done a job of sorts tonight but with the ref we had he'd probably have got sent off too.

Nicky Bailey

Quote altered to provide proper perspective.

Kightly himself has said it was the right thing for him to leave Southend and it was that kick up the backside that changed his approach and thus career. Tilson has brought in many good players as well as some duff ones (though not as many duff ones as the "fans" would have you believe) and on balance has done OK.
