Wrestlemania XX

Like I said, I don't care.

I used to have that attitude and used to take the right **** out of my best mate who had always loved it. Then I got Sky back in mid-1999 and started watching it then if there was nothing else on and realised after a couple of shows that I was hooked.

Its the male soap-opera, and I don't see any reason why it should be frowned upon anymore than Eastenders or anyhing else on TV.

Can;t wait for Wrestlemania. Going to get a few beers in, a pizza, a few more beers and watch it with a few mates.

I even watched most of RAW and SMACKDOWN so i know the plot. Great day of tele. Football, cricket, Fash FC and Wrestlemania XX.

Last time I ever watched WWF The Ultimate Warrior beat Hulk Hogan to win the title. It was cr*p back then as well. Must of been 15ish years ago.

OK then, after all the talk, did anyone actually watch it?

I was still up gone midnight and remembered it was on. When I put it on it was the Big Show v John Cena match. Then a load of promo's...

I remember the start of the 4-way tag and the Jericho/Christian/Trish promo's (Trish... mmmm) *erm* then I went to bed. Will try and catch it Thursday, but to be honest, what I saw was pretty poor!

One thing though, how sad was it to see Bobby Heenan? He used to be one of my fav characters and his commentary was excellent (as was Jesse Ventura's) - sad to see the man so ill...

This thread tempted me to stick a tape in the video for it last night. I haven't watched wrestling for a good couple of years, but I'm glad I did choose to record last nights.

Some very entertaining parts, but, the highlight by a country mile had to be the Playboy Evening Gown match! How hot is Torrie!?

yeah Heenan's one liners were SUPERB back in the day. He has been battling throat cancer. Although it has to be said he looked a lot better for the weight loss. Mean Gene hasn't aged a day since about 1985!

You can't beat a bit of Giant Haystacks on a Saturday afternoon

The old commentators really made the matches come to life, Bobby Heenan, Jesse Ventura, Tony Schivani and even Vince McMahon himself started behind the mike.

I dont mind JR and the King, but there stuff is very repetative - as for Tazz and that other knob with him...

Anyway, did you watch it Kenneth? Is it worth watching the highlights Thursday?

I've watched upto the 9 way Cruiserweight match so far, so far so good.

And the old perv in me loved the playboy gown match

I got through it all but missed the last 2 matches as i was off to the land of nod. Who won the Kane -vs- Undertaker and the Triple Threat match !?

Wasn't too impressed to be honest. Needed a few more novelty matches and Austin stunning everyone is getting s-l-i-g-h-t-l-y boring!! Brock giving the fans wasn't really called for whether it was planned for or not.

Undertaker won his match. (good to see his 'deadman' gimmick back)

Chris Benoit won the triple threat match and whatever the title was that went with it.

As for the Brock thing, I don't believe that was planned. I had a look around on the net afterwards and saw that since he's announced he's leaving to play American Football, he's been getting a load of abuse from fans and he's not happy with the reaction whatsoever. I'd imagine it was a last minute thing that Austin went along with.

Finally watched it last night, thought it was pretty good. I agree it could have done with a couple more gimmick matches, but it was good to see Rock & Foley back, the return of the deadman Undertaker (I don't even like the Undertaker but I had goosebumps seeing his entrance...) and overall I can't say I was disappointed in anything. Angle vs Guerrero wasn't as good as I thought it might be but that was probably because my expectations of those two are so sky high.

Good to see the MSG crowd as hot as ever. Brock looked shocked at the response he was getting. Haven't checked the net yet but I guess Goldberg beating him shows once and for all that him leaving wasn't a work.

I'm definately going to WM21 in Los Angeles. I know a guy who bought four tickets for sunday the day they went on sale and then touted two of them and got enough to cover his flight nd hotl. Think I'll be doing that next year.

theres quite a big piece about Steve Austins ex-wife in the Echo today.

Wrestling Classics on Sky Sports Extra has been showing some WCW from around 1991 recently and I have seen her on it with the then "Stunning" Steve Austin

It's an interview about his ex wife, who is from Southend, and is back living here. Their two daughters to to the private school in Thorpe Bay, and no-one beleived them when they said their dad was Stone Cold, so when he was in the country, he came to the school. Apparently she told him to drinik his tea before it went stone cold, and the name was born. They are apparently on good terms etc etc. and they only parted becasue of the touring involved in wrestling.

Yeah, I saw that when I watched that match again last night. Funny stuff. Notice how Austin's too cool to pick up the can that hit his face? He just got on his vehicle and drove off with the cans he already had.

Good work by the WWE in promoting drink driving too....

Funniest thing was Ultimo Dragon too. Apparently he signed for the WWE for one reason - to get the chance to wrestle at his first Wrestlemania. So the day happens and what does he do? He falls over twice during his entrance...!
