Worley/Saah

Unlike you to be angry.

How can you say that Worley is ideal if you haven't seen him play?

That said, I agree with you that it is a bit stupid to say that he hasn't played enough games in his career when knowing this when inviting him for trial. Clearly a pointless exercise.

Same could be said for Tilson - you'd hope he would have known SOMETHING about him before signing him, but given his comments, probably not. Probably thought he was a 32 year old Italian world cup winner or something - imagine his dissapointment when Harry turned up.

I'm just saying that (apart from the fact he is a living, breathing centre back), that his height, pace (from reports), fact he has good pedigree from Chelsea and Leicester and age on his side.

I really dont know what Tilson is looking for...

I just posted similar thoughts in the trialists thread. Why take him on trial, play him in 2 games and then say he's not experienced enough. Bizarre. Tilson's a man unto himself sometimes.

Saah seems to be nailed on for a deal then. I'll enquire and see if I can find anything out.

Sam Sodje would be on too high wages, althought who would have thought Duberry would sign for Wycombe and Carl Cort would have a trial with them.

My guess, and it is a guess, is that they have someone in mind to come in at centre half and they think they have a good chance of bringing him in.

I imagine Saah will sign on, then this mystery centre half from a Premiership side would join on loan at the end of August.

Lets be honest, anyone reckon they were put off by having to pay for Worley, so thought, hmm lets say lack of experience.

I'm disappointed we won't be getting Worley but I think we should definitely sign Saah so we at least have a second CB for the time being. Maybe later in the window we'll be able to get a better one but we can't go into the Huddersfield game with only one CB!

Possibly didn't think he was worth the fee being quoted by Leicester, but I would imagine when taking a player on trial from another Club there would be some sort of discussion about transfer fees etc.

Dorian would be a dream - but i think he said himself at the end of last season - he wants to play at a higher level!

Forgot about that - so Worley 'isnt experienced' enough, but we're lining up a Premiership youngster... makes perfect sense.

Tilson is a legend in my eyes, but sometimes his decisions about trialists baffle me, they really do. Last season we had Jamie Clapham on trial who then got released because he was "too small" then we brought in Lewis Emmanuel from Luton who was shorter.

This season its the same. I haven't seen Worley play ever, but from my research he looked a decent enough prospect so I'm a little disappointed as I am with the Rigters decision.

Suppose it depends on who that Premiership youngster (I don't think its been mentioned his a youngster, but thats my guess as well) is. IF its Dervite, I think its fair to say we'd all be over the moon.

i'd like to own a Lamborghini but it's out of my financial reach !!!!!!

I'm all for people wanting the best for themselves, but on Sundays evidence against Celtic, he was way out of his depth

I posted this earlier tonight and then deleted it as I couldnt remeber the 2nd trialists name, but the event stuck in my mind - and really sums up Tilson decreasing media 'skills'. He'd be better saying nothing most of the time as he generally ends up looking stupid and annoying some/none/all/dont care (delete as appropriate, I dont want to offend anyone) of the fans.

I would highly doubt Dervitte is coming in either. After doing well in the U21s and Spurs' similar lack of centre halves to us, he will either stay there or move to a bigger club than us.

I like to see people come out and justify their decision, like Tilson has attempted to do but I'd rather he came out and said something like "after seeing Worley play in the two games, I didn't think he was good enough". If Tilson doesn't rate him then its good enough for me, but I'd rather hear that then too short/not experienced enough/smells a bit funny (may have made that last one up).

Yes, Dervite is a pipe dream in my opinion, but I was using that as an example. When transfer deadline day rolls around, and if we announced the loan signing of Dervite till January, I doubt anyone will be moaning we didn't sign Worley.

This was what Beermonster said Paul Brush said...

"Another target is currently on the books of a Prem club, this seems to be the one they really want to tie up, only a 6 month loan situation for a CB, right footed but can play left side, a big 6'3 with bags of pace, problem is the club will not make him available to late August and would prefer if he went to a Championship side although the player is keen to come here, PB had spoke with him on Saturday evening and he again said he wanted to come."

Here is Dervite's wikipedia page.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorian_Dervite

Height, 6 foot 3 inches...

Right footed, I seem to recall.

Big, yes.

With bags of pace. Well, would you say he was quick?

The Premiership side would prefer it if he went to a Championship side, though the player is keen to come here... Even on Saturday evening, he wanted to come...

Well, that would have been before playing for Spurs on Sunday in the Wembley Cup.

But seeing as he earnt rave reviews at the end of last season, and was 2nd in the player of the year line-up, despite being there for only half a season, and we were all really keen, that MAY make him keen to come back.

And here is what he said when he was leaving:

http://www.southendunited.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10444~1645441,00.html

Could it be him? You can see that Tilly and Brish would be really keen to land him, even on a six month loan.......

beermonsters post about talking to Brushy would suggest we are in for Dorian, a tall centre back at a Prem club who they won't let out until late August and want him to go to a Championship club, sounds a bit like Dervite to me but if Worleys out of the frame now we have to sign Saah or someone else by Huddersfield!

I admit it really does fit Dervite to a tee (and if it IS Dorian then I'm encouraged by the fact that Brushy said "the player himself wants to come") but realistically I doubt it would happen as Spurs want him to play in the Championship at least. Everything fits Dervite though right down to the "the Premiership club don't want to let him out til the end of August" which coincidentally ties in with King and Woodgate's expected return from injury. Also with Brushy having spoken to the player on Saturday night that may be a bit of a clue as if we wanted to get in touch with Dorian we'd have a direct contact with him having had him on loan last season. And how many players would be known to be "keen to come" to Southend and play in League One when their parent club would prefer to send them on loan to a Championship side and a higher level of football?

The more I think about it I'd be staggered if it was anyone other than Dervite. Sadly I doubt very much he'll end up back here which is a crying shame as he's EXACTLY what we need at this time.....

For crying out loud!!! Worley would have been ideal - what the hell does Tilson want? We've got NO fit centre halves, Worley is young, good prospect and by all accounts did ok at Barnet yesterday.

I'm really angry on this one..

Me too mate. Just plain ridiculous. He is all you've said above, and surely wouldn't have been too much of a gamble.

Sorry, but PB spoke about Dervite when he was talking about players coming on loan and he's words 'You put them in the shop window, it's like Dervite, no chance he will come back, he's got PSV & Metz both chasing him that I know of according to Spurs, the fans have to be realistic on that one, I'd love to have him here but it's not going to happen'
