The only thing I can say in defence of that selection is that by all accounts Clarke played well in the two away matches at Leeds so maybe Tilly thought that his deployment in midfield works better away from home. Obviously the reality is different.[b said:Quote[/b] (Andy_S @ Nov. 04 2006,15:33)]I'm absolutely staggered to find Clarke picked to play central midfield again. Was Tilly not watching on Tuesday?
Well getting beaten week in week and conceding three goals or more a game doesn't help.[b said:Quote[/b] (Xàbia Shrimper @ Nov. 04 2006,15:42)]Something is seriously wrong. A successful football team enjoys itself - on and off the pitch - but this doesn't seem to be the case with Southend United this season. What's changed? How has it changed? And how can it be resolved? The three most important questions for Steve Tilson and Paul Brush this evening ...
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion but I think he's suffering because the whole TEAM is suffering at the moment. The first 6 weeks of the season Maher was FAR AND AWAY our best player and that can't be ignored.[b said:Quote[/b] (Spaceman Spiff @ Nov. 04 2006,15:35)]Neither do I. Not one on the pitch either..[b said:Quote[/b] (Kris @ Nov. 04 2006,14:49)]No goalkeeper on the bench. Hope that one doesn't come back to haunt us.
Does it matter now.[b said:Quote[/b] ]No goalkeeper on the bench. Hope that one doesn't come back to haunt us.
Yes, but why have we gone from a successful winning team to cannon-fodder in just a few months; what's sparked this sudden collapse in fortune?[b said:Quote[/b] (glensufc @ Nov. 04 2006,16:48)]Well getting beaten week in week and conceding three goals or more a game doesn't help.
I think that's harsh on Maher. He's been our best player so far this season despite the fact he's had a series of shocking players alongside him.[b said:Quote[/b] (Spaceman Spiff @ Nov. 04 2006,15:35)]Neither do I. I agree his job shouldn't be in jeopardy but rather than another coach to be brought in to help we need to BRING SOME BLOODY PLAYERS IN WHO ARE BETTER THAN WHAT WE'VE GOT!!! And for the woeful quality in our squad at this moment in time that shouldn't be hard should it!!!!! It doesn't take a genius to work out that with this squad of players we'll be down by February.....[b said:Quote[/b] (Andu @ Nov. 04 2006,15:48)]Secondly, all the cries of Tilly out are just b******s. I was assuming that players would follow[b said:Quote[/b] (Angell Delight @ Nov. 04 2006,15:52)]I agree his job shouldn't be in jeopardy but rather than another coach to be brought in to help we need to BRING SOME BLOODY PLAYERS IN WHO ARE BETTER THAN WHAT WE'VE GOT!!! It's a higher level of football and I honestly believe the team is playing a division above itself. If we were back league 1 this year would we even be in the top 6, I'm not sure we would.[b said:Quote[/b] (Xàbia Shrimper @ Nov. 04 2006,15:51)]Yes, but why have we gone from a successful winning team to cannon-fodder in just a few months; what's sparked this sudden collapse in fortune?[b said:Quote[/b] (glensufc @ Nov. 04 2006,16:48)]Well getting beaten week in week and conceding three goals or more a game doesn't help.

Winchester Shrimper saw Wolves in the week against Southampton and said Wolves were dire and had no clue.[b said:Quote[/b] (Xàbia Shrimper @ Nov. 04 2006,15:54)]Wolves had only scored 12 before we came along ...

In my opinion we simply don't have the quality for this league. If all of our players were playing above themselves week in and week out then we may have a chance, but that clearly isn't happening and confidence is shot, which creates errors of it's own.
I really think we are out of depth, like Sunderland in the Prem last year. For us back to back promotions was too much too soon, but I wouldn't swap them, even if we do go down with a whimper.
The way we are playing, we may aswell have nobody on the pitch, for all the good they are f%&king doing, the useless bunch of w%&kers.[b said:Quote[/b] (Spaceman Spiff @ Nov. 04 2006,15:56)]Is there one on the pitch?[b said:Quote[/b] (glensufc @ Nov. 04 2006,15:50)]Does it matter now.[b said:Quote[/b] ]No goalkeeper on the bench. Yes but how do you persuade people to come to us who are going to be any better than the players we already have?[b said:Quote[/b] (Smiffy @ Nov. 04 2006,16:03)]The way we are playing, we may aswell have nobody on the pitch, for all the good they are f%&king doing, the useless bunch of w%&kers.[b said:Quote[/b] (Spaceman Spiff @ Nov. 04 2006,15:56)]Is there one on the pitch?[b said:Quote[/b] (glensufc @ Nov. 04 2006,15:50)]Does it matter now.[b said:Quote[/b] ]No goalkeeper on the bench. Ron needs to get the chequebook out in Jan...
Anyone will be better than the sh!t we currently have.
I'd honestly say we need 6 or 7 signings/loans or we will be going through the trapdoor before Feb.
