Our first opposition , that mammothly rich club Gillingham ,??? Who were already pretty strong , have added 7 to their squad. All frees. None on trial. In fact they have had 2 trial games cancelled. Billy Knott from Bradford and Wagstaff from Bristol City look good recruits Konchesky just added in at left back , along with defenders Oshilaja ( year long loan - Cardiff),, Lee Byrne ( Newport ), Lee Martin Millwall, Quigley, 6.4" of young striker ,( year long loan)
7 fairly good players, all free, not on trial, club like us with poor finance. Billy Knott said in local paper he choose Gillingham as first to contact him! , so not all about the money is it!! Still time for us to pull out 4 good buys, but less time to settle in etc

Funnily enough a Gills fan tweeted me the other day saying they had no centre backs.

Apparently timlins injury is now worse than feared.

Will be about a few months.

Brown also making positive noises about the youth. Hope this doesn't mean he is thinking of blooding youngsters too early to make up the squad.

Cmon Ronald let Brown bring in the targets he needs.

This would seem a sensible approach getting Kamara (CM) & Pleguezuelo (CB) in - Although im always a bit nervous of young centre backs in the lower leagues. Could be a cheap option if Arsenal do us a favour...

Didn't do Bradford any harm with Reece Burke. I do think this is the route Brown is going to go, but of course this means it won't happen yet as Premier League clubs will wait until quite late before deciding who of their young players they want to allow out on loan.

He is letting him. It's players having plenty of offers on the table and their agents that's the problem.

You keep telling us how much better your favourite club, Gillingham, do things. They finished 9th last season and lets see how they do this year. By the way for the moment they turn over more money than us, as I'm sure you know.

Put this up on twitter, in reply to the above news. "Good news but worries me having lost Payne, Timlin & Wordsworth (injuries), thought central midfielder really our priority.

Now I've been chastised by uncle Barry, I would remind him of post number 30. If I may be so bold as to answer a grown up, I think uncle you were a little sarcastic your self. Or do you always attack someone if they ask an awkward question.

By the way uncle Barry if you support SUFC so well, then why do you always slag us off. Surely there must be one reason to like us?

They say sarcasm is the lowest form of wit so just for once I will try to reach down to the rather sad levels you like to regularly aspire too and are clearly so fond of.
Ive noticed just how often you stoop to attempt to insult people, especially if you are unhappy with their argumen or are losing the debate. Im actually surprised you havent managed a few yellow cards from the mods.
When you get to eventually develop your brain wider than than a fence post and are able to think just a little flexibly come back and debate with me.
In the meantime try to think that those of us who care passionately about our club, from time to time offer reasoned and positive criticism. It actually helps things grow and develop, even you! Remember conflict often brings change for the better.
However there are times on here when it feels anyone who makes a very reasoned critique , gets met by the equivalent of the few born again Christians. Ive learned over the years you can rarely engage in sensible debate with these people
Why dont you add up the number of times you have come on here to patronise or insult others yourself Mr. Rigid .

Why don't you two get a room and sort it out.

Fair point, will hit the ease back button, with just the comment that the above has been said more than once before concerning two posters having a go on here but there is one common theme, guess who that person might be.?

Looking forward to the opening game and the following Tuesday night, regards to all the Men of Kent and Kentish Men shrimpers

Let's get back on topic gents as other posters are suggesting. Maybe use the PM system if you want to get personal. Your choice obviously but deletions aren't far away. Thanks

Phil Brown quote from the Echo:
(do you think the last line is referring to another Championship quality & costly midfielder... and having a slight dig at Ron's tight purse strings?)

“We are in talks with other targets and things are moving on a little bit with one of them".

“But it’s not beyond reason we could make four signings next week".

“One of them is a goalscoring midfielder but that would mean investing in the squad.”

So come on Ron put your money where your mouth is .You keep saying you back Phil brown .Well the best way of showing it is to allow him a bit of slack and put a bit more hard cash in the team as you did with Cox so phil brown has said .

“One of them is a goalscoring midfielder but that would mean investing in the squad.”

What a barbed quote.

I have little or no time for RM but I have to say that he has appeared to support PB financially - after all I wouldn't have thought that Cox and Ranger aren't going to be that cheap and I would be very surprised if Cox did not have other offers.

Also RM has supported PB off the pitch with what I think is quite a large 'Management' team for a club of our modest standing.

How about let some of the 'Management' go and reinvest their wages in the squad?
